June 13, 200719 yr Anyone else going? Admittedly, this isn't my thing, but I got a pair of free tickets, so I figured I might as well go. Can anyone tell me who John Cena is? Is he like Stone Cold 2007?

June 13, 200719 yr Cena is one of the biggest stars in the WWE now. They have been tooling his image a little over the years. He was kind of a punk and they made him very street cool, baggy pants, jewelry. They have changed it around a little and are trying to put him in movies. He gets a mixed reaction out of most crowds, some like him, some hate him. He's not that great of a wrestler, but he plays up the character and has great mic skills...
June 13, 200719 yr Me & my girl were going to go but the reason she was really wanting to go was because of HBK but he's "hurt" & Isn't scheduled to be back until October so I don't think we'll go. We went to the Louisville one a few weeks ago & went all the way up there (from south eastern Ky) & they said HBK would not be there. Needless to say, she wasn't happy. I wasn't either considering gas is not all that cheap nowadays. Cena & the Hardy's put on great shows. We were only 7 rows back so that was pretty good. If we go to the one at Rupp, I'll probably wait until the day before to get on ticketmaster & look for tickets. That's when you find the best seats (if you don't get them the very second they go on sale).

June 13, 200719 yr I don't really like Cena's mic skills...the WWE doesn't have anyone currently with anything close to the mic skills that some of the guys had during the "Attitude" Era...Stone Cold, The Rock, and Mick Foley...also, HHH and HBK in their prime. I realize the last two are still around, but they aren't as good as they used to be. Everything seems too scripted...during that time it seemed like those guys just came out and freelanced on the mic, just saying whatever they felt like...now it seems everything is scripted out and they just follow that. Not as good, IMO.
June 13, 200719 yr Can someone define "mic skills" for me? The ability to cut a good and believable promo (or trash talk the other guy). Remember pro wrestling is a TV show, just like CSI or any other show. So a wrestler who has good "mic skills" can give convincing interviews or hold his own in verbal confrontations with other wrestlers. Ric Flair is an example of someone who could flat talk on the mic. The Rock, Stone Steve Austin two other guys got to be household names in part because of their ability to tell compelling stories in the ring and on the microphone. John Cena CAN be good on the mic at times. John Cena CAN wrestle well on pay-per-views but he always seems to go through the motions at house shows and weekly television. I am not a big Cena fan. I think if they would turn him heel I would like him more. With the fans split on him at live events turning him makes SO much sense. With Mr. Kennedy (another guy with GREAT mic skills) now on Raw when he gets healthy its time to turn Cena and give Kennedy a face run. The fans are starting to cheer for Kennedy regardless at this point, just like they did the Rock before his monster face fun in late '99 and 2000. Anyway its a house show (not a televised event) so if I had free tickets I would go too! Any word on what the card is supposed to be?

June 13, 200719 yr What do you mean Vince is frying in the limo??? At the end Raw Monday night Vince got into his limo and it literally exploded. So now, storyline wise, we are supposed to believe he is dead. The scene ACTUALLY had bpeople believing he was dead and caused calls to the media from fans wanting "confirmation" on the reports. http://www.timesleader.com/news/20070613_13wwe_ART.html The local media where Raw took place actually called the REAL FBI after WWE.com reported the FBI was investigating the explosion: http://www.prowrestling.com/article/news/4773 I still can't believe that in 2007 some people still don't understand its a show. It doesn't even try to present itself as "real" anymore and hasn't now for about 15 years. Oh well. Free publicity for the McMahon's and the WWE.
June 13, 200719 yr I just went to the website and how did he get out of that limo??? It exploided right when he got in... Special effects are amazing these days....Another possibility is that they filmed him getting in one day, and it exploding the next, then edited it together.
