June 11, 200719 yr If you could create a band with your favorites of all time who would they be? Include a lead singer, bass, guitar, drums and any other additions you feel necessary without just naming all of your favorites. I'll get back to you on mine...
June 11, 200719 yr Ooooohhh ... this is a good one. We did this a couple years ago and I wracked my brain to try and narrow it down. I'll see what I can come up with, but I may have to work on it.

June 11, 200719 yr Dio- Lead Vocals Danzig- Back up Vocals Not sure if the rest really matter, the music would have to be slow to fit their styles anyway.
June 11, 200719 yr I can't wait to see if I've ever heard of any of them! :jump: Well, my lead singer is a native of Hamilton, Ohio. So, maybe!

June 11, 200719 yr This is going to be hard for me. I might have to do a couple based around different styles of music... That's the real problem I had, so I just left it with singers. After I got past the vocals, I couldn't think of any guitar players other than metal guys that like to play fast and awesome.
June 11, 200719 yr I thought it was best to split this up into two categories: Alive and Deceased. These may not necessarily be the consensus “best,” but who I like and think would come up with my kind of sound (which can be all over the map). Alive Lead vocals — Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs) Lead guitar — Richard Thompson (Fairport Convention, solo) Rhythm guitar/second lead — Mike McCready (Pearl Jam) Bass — Bootsy Collins (James Brown, Parliament, Funkadelic, solo) Acoustic guitar — Leo Kottke (solo) Piano/Organ — Tori Amos (solo) Drums — Sean Kinney (Alice In Chains) Multi-instrumentalist (fiddle, mandolin, banjo, etc.) — Max Johnston (Wilco, Freakwater, The Gourds) Most of these are great songwriters in their own right, but I’ll also enlist some help from Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams, Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Tweedy, Paul Westerberg, Pete Townshend and Neil Young. Deceased Lead singer — (I had to cop out and do a tie on this one) Otis Redding (solo) and Ronnie Van Zant (Lynyrd Skynyrd) Lead guitar — Robert Johnson (solo) Rhythm guitar/second lead — Duane Allman (Allman Brothers Band) Bass — Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy) Acoustic guitar — George Harrison (The Beatles, solo) Piano/Organ — Billy Preston (solo, session) Drums — Keith Moon (The Who) Multi-instrumentalist — Jerry Garcia (Grateful Dead) Songwriters — Townes Van Zandt, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Jim Morrison, Joe Strummer and Warren Zevon.
June 11, 200719 yr Author Awesome stuff Jim, I appreciate all of the effort you put into that list. I'll have mine in the next day or two when I get some free time.
June 11, 200719 yr Let's see... Lead Singer/songwriter: Roger Clyne (The Refreshments/Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers) Lead Guitar: TIE Kirk Hammett (Metallica)/Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones)... Actually, solo artist Tommy Emmanuel is most definitely the best guitarist I've ever heard, but Keith Richards is a pirate, sooo... The winner is Keith Richards. Rythm/second lead: (after the previously mentioned) Slash (Guns 'N Roses) Bass: Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) Drums: Jimmy Chamberlin (Smashing Pumpkins) 2nd choice: Matt Tong (Bloc Party) OTHER: Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins)
June 11, 200719 yr Lead vocals — Greg Dulli (Afghan Whigs) Can't believe I forgot this: Since the Afghan Whigs' breakup, Dulli has fronted a band called The Twilight Singers.
