June 11, 200719 yr Can you find one example in this thread of anyone who has claimed, or even implied, that 'moderate muslims endorse the killing of unbelievers.'? Absolutely, when one claims that that is the true teaching of the KORAN, yes, it has been implied numerous times.
June 11, 200719 yr Oh, and gray may not be an option, but there is definitely more color than black and white in this issue. There is more than just black and white in the minds and hearts of moderate, right-minded people. But in the mind of the extremists, For them, I think it's totally black and white. It's "My way or the highway."
June 11, 200719 yr Absolutely, when one claims that that is the true teaching of the KORAN, yes, it has been implied numerous times. To which I ask, "Have you ever read the Koran in it's entirety?"
June 11, 200719 yr I am simply suggesting that moderate muslims do not endorse the killing of unbelievers. I think it would be more appropriate to say that "radical" Muslims do not endorse the killing of unbelievers.
June 11, 200719 yr I think it would be more appropriate to say that "radical" Muslims do not endorse the killing of unbelievers. You mean like the Saudis and the Kurds and the Morrocans and all of our allies in the Balkans, and the Egyptians, and all the other African Muslims.
June 11, 200719 yr You mean like the Saudis and the Kurds and the Morrocans and all of our allies in the Balkans, and the Egyptians, and all the other African Muslims. We need a smiley with a broom to cover all of Ace's gross "sweeping" generalizations.
June 11, 200719 yr Absolutely, when one claims that that is the true teaching of the KORAN, yes, it has been implied numerous times.Since you are ignoring my question about whether you have read the Koran or not, I will assume that you have not. Therefore, I’m going to make it easy on you by providing links to: 164 Jihad Verses in the Koran http://www.answering-islam.org/Quran/Themes/jihad_passages.html JIHAD - THE TEACHING OF ISLAM FROM ITS PRIMARY SOURCES - THE QURAN AND HADITH http://www.answering-islam.org/Bailey/jihad.html Islam and Violence http://www.answering-islam.org/Terrorism/islam_and_violence.html This should be a good jump start for anyone interested in the truth. To be entirely accurate, any translation other than the original and faithful Arabic employed by Muhammad around 610-630 A.D. is not considered valid by the faithful. This is similar to the adherence of the Catholic Church to Latin prior to Martin Luther and even up to recent times. After reading the information on these three links alone, I doubt anyone will be suggesting that we simply need to hold hands and sing “Kumbaya.”
June 11, 200719 yr We need a smiley with a broom to cover all of Ace's gross "sweeping" generalizations. Holy Smoke did you not see the post I was responding too. I have not made a single generalization - I have not said that all "true muslims" want to kill the infidels - as a matter of fact I have fought that generalization. I have not said that only "radical muslims" do not want to kill the infidel - I have fought that generalization. My whole line of posts have been an attack on generalizations. Goodness groceries.
June 11, 200719 yr We wouldn't even need Middle-Eastern oil if we could just harnass the spin coming out of this thread.
June 11, 200719 yr You mean like the Saudis and the Kurds and the Morrocans and all of our allies in the Balkans, and the Egyptians, and all the other African Muslims. You need to take a broader look and quit focusing on muslim attacks on the US. You're ignoring Indonesia, Thailand, Lebanon, Pakistan, India, Egypt, Nigeria, Morroco, Russia, Algeria, Saudia Arabia, Philipines, Uzbekistan, China, France, etc... These attacks had nothing to do with the United States. This is a world wide jihad.
June 11, 200719 yr My whole line of posts have been an attack on generalizations.I know you're not referring to my posts as generalizations... I don't know how much more specific I can be without writing an entire book...
June 11, 200719 yr In Leviticus 26 we read of the blessings God would have bestowed on Israel for their obedience to the Mosaic covenant. They were told that if they obeyed, God would "grant peace in the land." They would lie down and no one would make them afraid. The sword would not pass through their land. Yet this promise did not mean that Israel would be free from warfare. Quite to the contrary. God said: You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you. Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand, and your enemies will fall by the sword before you. (verses 7–8) A similar blessing is found in Deuteronomy 28. There too, victory in war, not freedom from war, was the blessing. Israel's enemies would flee from them. The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. (verse 7) You cannot ignore the Old Testament!! It is a part of our Holy Book. And yes I believe we ought to sell everything and give it to the poor (new testament teaching)- but I am a sinner and too weak to do that. I have tried not to use it, because I don't take it literally, but how can any of you ignore that great bloodbath that takes place in Revelations when God destroys his enemies, and the notion that not only will all non-believers be killed, but they will SPEND ETERNITY in hell - suffering. In other words, all of the infidels will be killed in the end by God, Jesus (same) and God's army. Worse than that if you are a millienalist (sp)
June 11, 200719 yr I have not made a single generalization. Exhibit One: If you read all of the posts you will see that I said that as long as you have Islam you will have radical islamists, same with Christianity, so unless you can destroy Islam you will not be able to destroy the radicals.
June 11, 200719 yr Exhibit One:  How is that a generalization: I did not call all christians radical, nor did I call all muslims radical . . . i simply said that as long as you have the two different religions, you will have radicals (extremists) in both groups who distort the teachings.
June 11, 200719 yr How is that a generalization: I did not call all christians radical, nor did I call all muslims radical . . . i simply said that as long as you have the two different religions, you will have radicals (extremists) in both groups who distort the teachings. Of course, the difference between your examples is that in Revelation (and in the majority of Old Testament military might) it is God who is doing the smiting, whereas in the Koran, the call is for the individual to exercise jihad against infidels. You are of course correct about the radicals (noone in here has denied that), and on the Christian side, I will concede that those firebombing abortion clinics (which happens about once every year or so) in the name of God is radical terrorism. It is not comparable to what radical jihadists are doing, and you know it, Ace.
