Who here actually likes to do Karaoke?

At the same time, who here thinks they're any good at it?

I've been singing karaoke since I was about 15 with my best friend. Our moms used to take us. We still go together occasionally. The two hole-in-the-walls that we prefer are laid back and it's a fun atmosphere. People tell us that we're good, but they're usually drunk older men. One guy told me that I could be the 5th member of the Dixie Chicks.

I sang for the first time since I split with my ex a few weeks ago(we used to go together) at a 10 year reunion I was attending. I sing at church on Sundays with my dad but I just really never put too much stock into it because my dad is so much better than me.

Well all my former classmates didn't know it was me up there at first, then around the second verse of Who Needs Pictures they all came up and started cheering for me. Then I had some random girl come up to me and ask me to do a Josh Gracin song. They didn't have any on hand unfortunately. :irked:

Went back last weekend, to the same bar, with a buddy of mine and we were the youngest folks there by about 15 years. After enough cat-calls from drunk women between 45-56 I decided it was time to pack it in and go home for the night.

My best friend is really good, so I find it funny when people compliment me. They are always asking me to sing stuff that I know I can't. "Sorry....no Martina McBride for me....ask her." "Sorry....can't do Sheryl Crow....ask my friend." I stick with fast and upbeat. I'm a big fan of the Beastie Boys, and I must say I do a fantastic rendition of "You Never Even Called Me By Name."

I enjoy it but the other people in the room, may have a different opinion....Don't really have the free time, much any more.

Well if people are there for Karaoke they need to be prepared for anything!

Although there was a lady that was so bad this past Friday that the friend I was with actually left the building everytime she sang. I thought it was hilarious.

If I'm singing, anything could happen....:D I often make up words. Plus, I'm not talking about an actual lounge but more of a, backyard/friends over, gathering.

Remind me next time you're up this way, I may have to see this for myself. :thumb:
