Ballard Bruins....a good thing...

We are not that Naive- scholarships are available- what coach at Trinity has not won a State championship- Kevin Wright would have won a bunch - if he would have stayed there so?? Catlett probably won't play you because some of the players he was supposed to get have gone to Trinity on scholarship , along with players from Shelby, Oldham, Frankfort, Henry, Jeffersonville, New Albany, Providence, Bullitt and many others. I have been at several schools and Trinity wants you to think they out work you... this is a myth all the good teams work equally hard. it all comes down to numbers! Play in a private/ separate championship like the coaches voted for and this is not even a discussion. Public schools draw from a neigborhood or county --not a region or several states like Trinity, X, Cross, Lex Cath- etc- lump them into a separate private class and let them fight it out.

Sounds like a few sour grapes was in your wheaties today. Wow, scholarships given at private schools, I've heard of financial aid based on financial need, but no more than 50% of full tuition. In just my few years around here, I've never heard of a Ballard kid coming to Trinity......Can you give me at least one name from the Ballard area?

Take it to the Public/Private forum.

Ballard's halls are loaded with top flight talent. If Catlett gets the right leadership they are a Top 5 team.

I would venture to say that all those former Bruins are probably disgruntled players who didn't achieve what they wanted out of the program, and probably were part of any problem the Bruins my have had while they were there. On the other hand...Mark does do an outstanding job with those kids...he is honest and forthright about what a young student-athlete ought to be about...he has also been very consistent wherever he has been...the worst he has done is 6-5(twice)...otherwise he averages 7 to 8 wins a season...most coaches would welcome those numbers...outside Trinity, St. X, and Male...and where do some of you get the idea that Ballard is "loaded" with football talent in the school...I can attest to the fact that is just not true...for example, last season outside the Freshmen he had 6 Varsity linemen...and you might not necessairly agree with him playing Trinity JV/Frosh...a lot of it has nothing to do with Catlett, but administrators...he has no say so as to the schedule...and why throw young kids who is some cases have never played before into a situation where they are outnumbered 10 - 12 to 1 in just sheer numbers...convince me that those young men would get better against those kind of odds....

I think there is some truth in what you say RETIRED. Ballard's freshman probably could not compete, but on the JV level, Ballard could play their JV team against a private schools freshman team and it would be a good experience for both teams. This has been done with other schools.

I am 100% sure that Ballard (the school) has as much talent as anyone in Kentucky, there is no denying that fact.

First of all, Ballard's student body certainly is not limited to its resides area. I know of several kids in Fern Creek, St Matthews even Hikes Point that attend Ballard AND PARTICPATE in Athletics

Secondly, in reference to Roberts is there something that keeps an administrator from becoming involved with a program? I can honestly say he is a better coach than the last few Fern Creek has had, with the exception of the newly hired coach.

Also Ballard is rancid with athleticism coaches are what makes the difference and whether or not they have winning progams or not, the talent is there to be a contender for state titles in almost every sport. I like Mark but I am not so sure he is the guy to take it to the next level there. Just to be fair let me say there is at least one other coach at Ballard who has a history of winning and taking teams to state that I DON'T like but I would like to see stay put because he is a great coach!
