St Henry's Field?

Featured Replies

Just a couple questions about this field:

First, could anyone give me directions from I-75?

Second, what is it like? Dimensions, playing surface, mound, stuff like that?

Thanks for any help.

Take 75 north to the Erlanger exit (not sure of number). Turn left off the exit, and go about 3 or 4 miles and school will be on the right.

Right now, they have the best high school field in NKY. It's only a few years old, but I would think by now, the grass is nice and thick. However, we haven't had rain up here in weeks, so hopefully they're watering it daily.

Great ball park... I don't rember the demensions but the field was real nice about a month ago with a excellent mound. I believe the seats were donated by the Reds.

I don't think the Reds donated them, because they never owned them. I believe they were bought by someone and donated to the school.

Oh, Ok... I had heard from a couple of different people that the Reds donated them, but I wasn't positive.

The dimensions are 330' down the left field line, 365' to the gaps, 390' to center, and 310' down the right field line.

The Florence Freedom are out of town that week. Be nice to play it at Champions, but I assume St. Henry would have to OK the move.

Pay rent or collect all money? I'd say its staying at St. Henry!

I don't believe the stadium owners were making any of the high schools pay rent. I think they get all concessions and some (or all) of the gate. I could be wrong though, but I thought I read something similar somewhere on here.

To bad really! While St. Henry is a really nice field, and is one of the best high school fields in NKy, it isn't even close to the quality of Champion Windows Field not only for the players on the field, but even more so for the fans in the stands. If the Regional games were being played at St. Henry, the crowd on Monday evening would have never turned out as big as it was at around 7pm.... Had to be close to at least 1500 people there at that time....

What high school field in the state of KY has a field like champions? Nobody does.

St. Henry is one of the best high school fields in Ky, period! It's 390 to center, 365 in the power alleys, 325 down the left field line and 310 down the right field line, They water twice a day. The grass is immaculate and they just did some major edging on the baselines. My son was there today practicing w/the Kentucky Colonels. Walt Terrill coaches the Colonels as well as the St. Henry High School team. Coach Terrill is a 14-15 year veteran of MLB and his signature is all over the stadium. By that, I mean his influence.

They are getting the field ready for the semi-state and it will be right! Fans and players will enjoy the experience.

I wouldn't consider it an issue as to the quality of St. Henry's field (it's gorgeous) as to an issue of being able to hold the fans. I would bet there was close to 2000 people at the Ryle-CC game tonight and while there likely wouldn't be nearly that many there next week, I do think there will be more than St. H can comfortably handle. I'm almost certain that Freedom does not charge at all for the high schools to use their complex, but do take 100% of the gate and concessions.

I believe the Freedom are back in town starting Weds. of next week. The owner of the Freedom is not charging high schools and he deserves a big thank you for letting the high shools play there this year. Maybe the sectionals in future years.

Crowd will be smaller with Somerset coming that direction. First, its a long trip. Second, Somerset is a smaller school and while they have a good fan base, it won't be that big. St. Henry should be able to hold the crowd with no problem.
