May 30, 200719 yr I think it's a lousy way to treat people. What about all the people who had made special plans to bring big groups there? I just think it's wrong...and not very wise. I agree, and I will remember this when they open back up after labor day... I know they can terminate at-will employees whenever they want, but it is a crummy way to do business in my opinion. I will more often than not patronize a place where I feel like the employees are treated well versus a place I feel they aren't.

Given today's current pro-business/anti-employee environment, do you ever leave the house?
May 30, 200719 yr Given today's current pro-business/anti-employee environment, do you ever leave the house? It's all relative, Jim. I don't expect the guy that is going to be making my cheeseburger at McDonalds to be making $30 an hour. But I do pay attention to places that pay above average and/or treat their employees well. Similarly, if I know a place is scraping the bottom of the barrel in pay or has a high turnover for a job that shouldn't, I note that as well.
May 31, 200719 yr Off the subject a little... Does anybody know anything about the new sportbar that is going in Wilder next to Goldstar and the Great Escape movie theatre?
June 1, 200719 yr A WARN notice is required when a business with 100 or more full-time workers (not counting workers who have less than 6 months on the job and workers who work fewer than 20 hours per week) is laying off at least 50 people at a single site of employment, or employs 100 or more workers who work at least a combined 4,000 hours per week, and is a private for-profit business, private non-profit organization, or quasi-public entity separately organized from regular government.
June 1, 200719 yr We went the Cold Spring Road House after a high school graduation in 2000 and we haven't been back since. They ran out of bun's, meat, etc - I do feel bad for the current employees for losing their job's.
