Scott Stilwell from Hickory, North Carolina

 

Coach Stilwell served as offensive coordinator at Fred T. Foard High School in Newton, North Carolina.

 

Coach Stilwell will bring a multiple offense attack to West Liberty.

 

After being recruited by East Carolina as a high school senior and being a redshirt freshman on the East Carolina team that beat N.C. State in the Peach Bowl, he later transferred to Appalachian State University. A career ending leg injury cut the wide receiver's football career short but immediately began his coaching career.

 

Coach Stilwell will come to West Liberty on Thursday to be formally introduced and meet the players and any interested new players at both the high school and 8th graders at the middle school. He will be accompanied by his wife Renea and his three children and look forward to making West Liberty their new home.

 

In addition to his coaching profession, he is an accomplished baseball umpire. Officiating collegiate and even professional minor league baseball as well.

When I played we used to hate play Morgan because of Bill Allen, he could throw seeds to his receivers. We were lucky enough to pull the games out but, we knew we had been in a tussle

I do remember him, he also had a older brother (Hank) to play at Morgan before him (in the 70's) that was the same type of QB. Very talented football player. Another connection during that time was that Raceland Assistant coach John Reed took the head coaching job at Morgan around 73 or 74 I believe.

You are correct Oldrambler, Coach Reed was at Morgan Co. during the 73 season. I had the pleasure of playing for him in the 7th & 8th grade. Great coach and great guy. I still stay in touch with him and he is doing well.

:thumb: :thumb: John Reed is one of the finest men I ever met. I see him every once in a while and he always has a kind word and ask about everyone in RamLand.

We must be living in the same world...:laugh: Coach Reed was a good coach and most important a great man. Will be looking forward to meeting Morgans new coach and his family.
