Futurecoach - I admire your loyalty to Ludlow. All teams should have fans that loyal. However, again, your loyalty has blinded you into thinking they are a top team.

2004 won district over CCH and Holy Cross

2005 12-0 loss to CCH in district finals

2006 8-2 loss to Villa

ZERO wins in the region tourney

Two good seasons

And a schedule that, year in and year out, doesn't come close to matching CCH, Boone, Ryle, Beechwood, etc.. A winning record doesn't mean all that much if it is built upon wins over Dayton, Holmes, Silver Grove, Lloyd, Villa, Calvary, Heritage, etc. It darn sure doesn't prepare you for the rigors of regional play.

^See the thing about that is yeah Ludlow dont play all the top teams like some of the other schools, but they do usually play some every year, and well usually do sometimes come up with wins, but people never seem to remember that. Or when they do have wins like that no one post that or looks at the threads. This year they ten run ruled Highlands yet no one probably no that, but Newport goes and beats Highlands in the region, and someone says that it probably the biggest upset in the state this year. It just shows that usually people pay no attention to Ludlow. Also 3 years ago Ludlow ten run ruled Holy Cross and Boone County, yet no one says anything about that, or if they do they just offer some excuse for why a team like Ludlow won. It was the same way when Ludlow beat CovCath, there are always excuses because no one believes that a small school like Ludlow, Dayton, etc. could win games like those, or when they do no one notices. So yeah Ludlow doesn't always play the top teams, but when they do they usually do pull off a win or two a year against those teams, but no one ever remembers those...

Some of the things you have up there is right, but once again you have messed up some facts with Ludlow. In 2003 you put they lost to holmes, but in fact that was Holy Cross who ended up being the regional runner up that year. In 2001 when they lost to CovCath, they shouldn't have been playing them, but it was a blind draw then and they got stuck up against them. Same situation with Holy Cross this year, a good team that should have been in the region got stuck up against CovCath in the first round. Also CovCath threw Harmon that game who I believe if I remember correctly threw high 80's low 90's so just about everyone in the region would have lost in that 1st round game, and with the bats they had they would have beat most teams by alot. That team went on also to be the regional runnerup. In 2002 when Ludlow made the region and lost to Highlands 16 to 0 they were missing two starters, and Highlands scored alot of runs on grounders threw the infield that the shortstop who usually starts would have got and that made a big difference. Also though that Highlands team was just a great team, and in fact they were also regional runnerups that year, and just happened to have to play the state champs in the regional finals in CovCath. In 2004 you said Ludlow lost to St.Henry but it was Dixie who they lost to in the first round of the region, and had 5 errors in the first inning which really killed themselves. But guess what that Dixie team ended up being the regional runnerup as well. So yeah you named some scores that wasn't good, but you didn't mention how those teams who beat Ludlow in the region or districts by alot, usually were all teams that ended up being one of the top 2 teams in the region in those years. And well good chance it would be the same way this year with Ryle because they are also one of the top 2 teams in the region...

So nice stats there, but dont be going saying next like you just said, because you are wrong here. This thread talks about the top baseball programs in the region since 2001, and I clearly show 8 teams that have been the best in the region since then. Because since the region tournament has 8 teams, I figured we should name the top 8 teams in the region since 2001. So you have yet to show anything for why I was wrong in saying Ludlow has been one of the top programs since 2001, because they have been. But its just a case of another person not wanting to believe the truth that a small school has been on of the better programs and better than some biggers schools and better known programs, and should get respect because like it or not they have been one of the top 8 teams in the region since 2001...

Trust me, I can go a lot farther back about some of the great teams Ludlow has had in baseball, but.....even those team, could they have won the Region in any of those years?

While I think it is great that Ludlow has had the chance to compete in the Region, in both basketball (of late) and baseball, it still doesn't take away from the fact that if Ludlow (again of late) wouldn't even be in the Ninth Region if they were still in the old 34th. In fact, I will go so far to say, that the teams that you have put on the Diamond since you got in the new 34th haven't come close to the quality of some of the teams that Ludlow put on the field in the old 34th that lost.....Ludlow did have some great teams.......

I think the 2004 team was team that was capable of winning the region! I think the coaching is one thing that hurt them, which is something I have said before but I wont get into that again, because I made my feeling clear on the before. However in 2004 that year the region was loaded with great teams. Ludlow beat the #1 team in the region in CovCath, and the reward they get for winning the district championship was the #3 team in the region in Dixie! Which we had 5 errors in the first inning which ended up being 5 runs for Dixie. Then if we won that we would have had the #4 team in the region in Conner in the next round, and if somehow got by there, then would have had the #2 team in the region in Beechwood in the finals. So to win that region that year Ludlow would have had to beat the top 4 teams in the region, which is something you usually dont see any team have to do to win the region. But Ludlow just has bad draws like that usually. But with a right draw that team definitely had the talent to win the region!

Now as for the teams in the new district, I agree if the last two years teams have been in the old district they would have not made the region. However Ludlow had made the region 3 out of the last 4 years they were in the region, which was the same as CovCath in that span. Also the two years they had not made the region in that district since 2001, it was because of just how tough the district is, because the two teams they lost two in the district since 2001 were both regional runnerups that year. So as you said Ludlow has had some really good baseball teams. So yeah the last two baseball teams have not been that great, but I dont like seeing people saying that they shouldn't be there in the region, because Ludlow has had teams that should have been in the region before they couldn't be because of the tough district they was in. So now it is just equaling out somewhat...:thumb:

All I read above was excuses.

They had 2 solid seasons with a very strong class.

If you want to consider them a top team , have at it. It will be a small room when the club meets.

I been waiting for someone to say that about the district. And well if Ludlow had been playing in that district all the time then I would agree with you. However people tend to forget that Ludlow has only been in this new district for 2 years, and before this year they were playing in the toughest district in the region with CovCath and Holy Cross. And I guess maybe you all dont realize that before Ludlow switched districts that they had made the region 3 out of the last 4 years from that district. So dont go playing the district stuff on me, because Ludlow was making the region before they moved into this weaker district. And yes valid point about Holy Cross, however now I dont want to hear about it, because yet once again you all fail to say the same thing about Ludlow when they were in that tough district and had teams that should have been in the region. Playing in that tough district cost Ludlow two more trips to the region tournament, when they had teams that were definitely one of the top 8 teams in the region.

So yes I dont play just the region apperances into account, because I do look at the team, and maybe if they just got a bad draw, and alot like Holy Cross this year, Ludlow experienced that twice while in that district in this decade. Also I dont know where you got your records from, but the records you have from Ludlow is nowhere close to being right my man. I know you probably got it from site, and it wasn't you, but you should have known better to post it, because I would hope even you would have realized that those records are not true. But now that it is posted people may not realize it, and actually think those were Ludlows records..

So I have taken into account everything, and when you talk about the top teams in the 9th region since 2001 Ludlow is in the mix like it or not. Yeah you have only listed 3 teams, but can you answer the thread and actually add more than just 3 teams as the top baseball programs in the 9TH REGION since 2001. And I find it hard if you have anyone else over Ludlow as one of the top 8 teams. Also as for Ludlow and Holy Cross it is a toss up between the two on who just be ahead, because I know before Ludlow left that district they were beating Holy Cross and making the region more than Holy Cross was...

Dont mean to play the devil's advocate here but Ludlow didnt even make into the region last year.

My top teams would have to be

CCH

Beechwood

Boone County

Holy Cross

Scott

Dixie

St. Henry

Ryle

You trying to plead your case for ludlow is just the same as me pleading my case for villa as a top team in the region since 2001. Its just not going to happen. Whether you like it or not the bigger schools in the 9th are going to take those slots even with equivalent records and post seasons. Thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

Ryle was the Regional runner up to a very strong Beechwood team last year.

Don't recall seeing Ludlow at the regionals last year.

Ok once again what does last year have to do with it? Did I said they made it last year. I mean a couple of the teams you put on your list, have not made the region a few times since 2001?

I do respect your post here because you are the only one who has actually posted 8 teams that you think have been the top of the region since 2001, everyone else seems to have a hard time doing that. They want to put down ludlow, but wont say what teams they would have over them...

However I will ask what has Scott and St.Henry done that would have you put them over Ludlow since 2001?

You are wrong again!!! They had 5 really good teams for 5 years in a row from 01 to 05. Now the last two years have not been that strong of teams I admit!..However you keep saying they are not a top team yet ONCE AGAIN you have not listed any other teams except for 3 that you would have as the top 8 teams in the region since 2001? You keep putting down Ludlow, but you have not been able to have any argument for what teams should be over Ludlow when it comes to who has been the top 8 teams in the region in 2001. And you will have a very hard time justifying not having Ludlow in the top 8 of teams since 2001, because they have been one of the top 8 teams in the region since 2001 like it or not!

Keep in mind, threads like these are opinions....so each is entitled to their own and no definitive answer, can be determined.

I understand that! :thumb:

However there are some people who want to just put down a school, but not want to answer the question of the thread on who are the top teams in the region since 2001. IMO it just that they dont want to admit that a school like Ludlow like it or not has been one of the top 8 teams in the region since 2001. So they would rather just put them down and say why they are not a top team than say what teams are the top teams over Ludlow...

I've read through most of the posts and honestly, others are replying with their thoughts, which may differ from others.

Here's the teams I'd put in front of Ludlow:

CCH, Ryle, Boone, Brossart, Conner, Holy Cross, Beechwood, St Henry, NCC, Dixie, SK, Scott.
