Nicholas County Head Coaching Job

Featured Replies

Mr. Kelsch is married and marital status shouldnt affect a coaching decision. He has a daughter and another child on the way. Mr. Kelsch's wife is from Corbin, Kentucky and from what I have heard they are willing to move to the Carlisle area if he is given the coaching position. That would make her 1 hour closer to her family... Mr. Kelsch is just patiently waiting.

Maybe too patiently.

Nicholas surely hasn't built any loyalty with Coach Kelsch by the way they have strung him along.

Unless there is something they have told Coach Kelsch that we don't know, I am not real sure if I would take the job the way Nicholas County has drug their feet. Just my opinion.

Maybe too patiently.

This could be part of Nicholas' plan. Kelsch has waited long and patiently for them to make an offer. They aren't doing themselves any favors by waiting.

As a parent of a basketball player I would be extremely upset at Nicholas Co. This is definately an injustice to them as individuals and as a team. Girls going to camp with the boys basketball coach????? What good does this do?

At least they are getting in the gym!!!!! What does it matter who has them in the gym as long as there is teaching going on !!! I would think who ever takes over the job would be glad someone took the time to work with them!!!

How much teaching is involved? Coaching one team is pretty tough, you can't be effective trying to do two jobs and do them well. The balance of time between the two programs is a disadvantage for both the boys and girls team.

I think you misconstrued what I was trying to say. It's not the fact that there is that much teaching going on as much as just trying to keep them playing together all summer. There boys just came back from camp and I know they have games scheduled all summer long. As far as the girls are concerned Its just good for them to get to go to camp. Hopefully Nicholas Co. won't wait to much longer in find a coach but until that happens I think you have to commend the boys coach for what he is trying to do.

So now that Mason's camp is over, and having the boy's coach coach the girl's team, have they made a selection yet?

Heard yesterday that my sources were right. The new girls basketball coach is Jennifer Cornett the assistant coach at Union College took the job.

If true, great time to hire a Head Coach, during the "dead period."

Your sources are correct. Cornett was hired Wednesday from what I understand. I'm just glad they have a coach now, no matter when they were hired.

Well they had to make us wait for over a month for this.

I think they dropped the ball on gtting Kelsch in this one he would have made a great coach hope all works out for NC at least Bracken gets to hold on to Kelsch for one more year.

Sounds like the administration at Nicholas played Kelsch on this one. I heard from many different sources up here that Kelsch was a sure bet. I'm sure Bracken is glad to still have him on the bench though!
