Best players you've seen this summer

He definitely can play with the best in the state and I have enjoyed watching him play this spring. That said however I would not put him at #7 in the 08 class. What has impressed me is the absence of all the negatvie things I heard about while playing with his high school team (Paintsville). I haven't noticed anything like that. He is a team player that has shown he can play really tough D & probably doesn't shoot as much as he should. I havn't seen him force anything. Above all he seems to be a great kid

Very accurate scouting report on Slone, he has been a great contributor and shown flashes of brilliance and ability to take over a game. If he shows that in July, he is going to get some big time offers

For some reason I really like this player most out of all your G's.

On Richie Phares, I hear he has a nice little hook shot now? Did you teach him that? :irked:

Yeah, Richie couldnt walk and chew gum when I found him, now look at him?

He is going to be the top recruit in Kentucky in 2009!

ok, Coach Hicks might disagree with the first line:laugh:

There is one Soph who just may transfer to a KY school, if he does he will give him a run for his money as the top player in 2009. :sssh: :sssh:

Landon plays pickup games with us on Tuesdays and he has improved a great deal from back in the fall. Alot of the guys I play with have played or are playing college basketball and he has the ability to be unguardable at times. He has also improved his leaping ability and his strength. The one area that he does need to improve on is the lift that he gets on his jumper. He is a special player and will be hands down the best player in the 15th region!

Well, don't leave us hanging, who is it?

To my knowledge, there are very few people who know how good Phares could be, its hard to get noticed on a loaded Scott County team, especially if your not a guard, Scott County just has an unbelievable depth of talent

Anyone know if the Stuart kid from Lafayette is playing anywhere this summer??

He plays with Charlotte Court, with Bud Mackey, Rodney Haddix, Victor Moses, Aaron Morris and Co.

That will change very soon.

Talk about a stacked team., I though Team KY & DS was stacked, Next years class will be special.

I would have to say some kids in Louisville should be in the top 25 & others in the top 40 or so. Two that should be in top 25 are Edmonson from UHA,& Ethan Faulkner Elliott Co. Not far behind are:Chambliss kid who plays for Shining Stars, Ferguson & Evan Faulkner Elliott Co, CJ Penny-Anderson Co.(Team Ky kids starting to make a name for themselves are: Adams-Scott Co, Stephens-Montgomery Co, Maynard-Elliott Co, Keeton-Lincoln Co.)

Stewart & Gifford from Lafayette. Gifford may be the most underated player in the state

The Elliott County boys were fun to watch, great guard play.

Gifford has amazed me this summer. I didn't realize he was as good as he is.

Chambliss is going to really help the Shining Star 17u team when he returns in July.

With two years ahead of this class, I think the rankings will change a lot between now and 2009. There are big guys who will grow into their bodies - just as Richie is doing, and big and not as big guys that will gain experience and sharpen their skills.

Their is only one way to get skill (technique applied under pressure) and mostly that is by playing. There are some 2009's and 2010's that have been playing since the 8th grade or earlier and they have a head start in skill and exposure over those in some programs where they don't get to play varsity until their junior or senior years for whatever reason. What will be interesting is to see who the sleepers are in these classes.

Gifford surprised me, maybe the quickest kid I've seen with the ball this year,

and can shoot it deep also, can break you down off the dribble

Doesnt guard the post that well though:D

shooter, how has Matthew Thomas been looking? I know you said he has been doing well, but in what areas has he been improving on?

Matt Thomas has probally been our most conistent player, pretty much shows up every game, had his best game yet in the semifinals of the state

shooting 7 for 11 from all over the court, playing solid defense, and good decision making. Wish I could have got the ball in his hands for the last shot.

Matt will be getting some solid offers after July.

How stacked is Team Ky and, is it Derek Smith? Didn't Team Ky. finish 2-2 in the tourny, and the Derek Smith team lost in the semi-finals. Weren't the finals between the Shining Stars and a team called Jazz? How stacked are they?

All 4 teams are loaded with quality players & maybe on a given day any one could beat the other. Team Ky & DS Est were in the semi's but I get your point, yes the finals were Shining Stars & Jazz. I do not think East Bank meant to slight either of those teams in his post. Congrats to all 4 teams especially Shining Stars on their big win.
