Dont know about Portwood either, other than the game @ Huntington, did he even score in double digits last season? Has he been playing well this summer?

I think you are shortchanging Portwood big time Waterboy. I can think of 10 games Portwood scored in double figures just off the top of my head. I'm sure there were others.

I know I listed my top ten, but realistically every player besides the top 4 probabily has someone better than tem within the state, who hasn't gotten the exposure and will probabily be rated 5-10 within their own region just because of this.

 

Here a player who will make a name for him self next season.

Adarian Givens-Scott Co.

He's a gifted athlete, who has all the tools to be one of the elight players in the state by mid season. He's currently playing with Team Kentucky, the same team that beat a very good DS All Star Squad led by Landon Slone. Just keep an eye on him.

It is amazing that someone who probably goes to a couple of tournaments starts a thread of top 25 players in any class. There is only one kid from L'ville on your list and he is a junior to be.? Kids ranked in the top 20 from an established site aren't even mentioned and they make all-region teams consistantly not mentioned. Are you really evaluating talent or just attending a tournament and occasionally skimming through the paper?

 

He isn't claiming to be an expert. He is asking for everyone's opinions. Hey its summer, just a good thread starter. I made similar points in giving the top players myself recently. I have always asked who the good players from Louisville are and no one is really giving any names right now.

That is a pretty good list. Hard to complain. 1 player that maybe better than Boyd is Sparks from Tates Creek. Boyd has more upside, but Id take Sparks right now.

Possibly shortchanging may be the correct word, just from my memory @ Huntington was the only game he shined in the entire year.

Portwood, (along with Jordan Smart at Catholic) are the two best "zone busters" in the state! Portwood averaged 1.04 points per shot last year, Mackey averaged 1.03 points per shot last year. The reason you heard so much about Mackey

(and Walls) is that they controlled the basketball. Didnt leave that many extra shots on the table. In the meantime, Tyler has developed his defense

and his ball handling.

You will see him playing at the next level

(which not many Kentucky kids can say)

I thought Portwood had a fantastic games against Mason County and Henry Clay. Like I said, I can think of at least 10 double digit scoring games Portwood had last year.

Maybe my statement was a little harsh, my point is the 6th/7th regions are always two of the strongest (along with the 11th) but their players get no recognition. The speed of the game is a whole different level when you get outside those 3 regions. Maybe that is why some of these "big name" players aren't all that impressive in the summer. Just an opinion.

Gotta hand it to you Shooter, you love your players and aren't afraid to promote them. The "2 BEST zone busters in the state" may be little generous though. I like both players, unfortunately neither like to put it on the floor, I am sure this will improve as they get physically stronger. The upside is they are both tall and long so they can shoot over a zone, which is hard to find in highschool.

Nic Simpson of Highlands is a very good player that no one is talking about. He probably is one of the favorites to win POY in the 9th next year.

I think there will be a lot of Kentucky kids playing at "the next level". A number of them that don't have "promoters" on this site.
