I think there will be a lot of Kentucky kids playing at "the next level". A number of them that don't have "promoters" on this site.

Is "promoting" facts a problem with you? I'm givin my honest opinion that I think will be validated by someone at a much higher pay grade. You make it sound like a negative. Feel free to express your opinion

I wouldnt call 1 to 2% of the high school players in Kentucky a "lot"

Nic Simpson of Highlands is a very good player that no one is talking about. He probably is one of the favorites to win POY in the 9th next year.

I think it is a two race between summer teammates. Arrez Henderson and Nic Simpson will battle for the ninth region POY. Nic and Arrez are two very talented individuals, very complete players.

Thanks for the free-of charge opinion. I don't have any problem with people promoting, but one has to take it at face value. I have seen thread after thread where people post their "all-star" teams, and add the name of the player that they want to promote. I am in no way saying your post did this, or that I disagree that either of the players you mention don't deserve it. I have seen them both many times and hope and expect they will do well somewhere after high school.

 

And I have seen many shooters against the zone that are just as good, but I don't know all the names, and I won't take the risk of promoting those I do know, because I don't want to invite a full blown discussion of the players. One has to be willing to live with this if the names are put out there!

Couple is two, few is three or greater, but less than a lot...

Couple is two, few is three or greater, but less than a lot...

 

I call 1-2% an elite group, that has to work hard to achieve that level and should be congratulated for their hard work. That is not a very big number at all and I feel safe in saying it is "unusual" for any Kentucky kid to get the college education paid for by playing basketball, that leaves out all the d-3

kids who have still worked hard to get there but don't get athletic scholarships

That is a pretty good list. Hard to complain. 1 player that maybe better than Boyd is Sparks from Tates Creek. Boyd has more upside, but Id take Sparks right now.

Maybe so, Boyd is very good player without a doubt. He probabily does belong in there somewhere as well.

 

On a side not: I don't think Givens is with Team Kentucky now.(just to correct post #19)

Jonathan Ferguson of Elliott should be in the top 25 IMO.

Mo matter what anyone wants to call Shooters comments, "promoting or just making a statement" about 2 very good shooters on his team & another that is not is entirlely his opinion. That is primarily what this forum is about isn't it? I commend Shooter for bringing these stats & comments to everyones attention. Most casual fans may not be aware or understand why Protwoods stats may not be what fans think they should have been during the season. Not for sure about Smart but I would be almost certain the same can be said about Maynard as he probably did not average 3-4 shots or at least 3-4 3pt attempts/game since most of the Offense was thru the twins & Ferguson. Lighten up people, good job Shooter!

Everyone has an opportunity, to post their opinions on any thread. Let's get back to topic and keep the content discussion, on the players and not each other....:thumb:

Shooter has good intentions but it seems that the kids he talks about are those on the DS East team, which are nice players. Novosel, Portwood, Smart, Slone, Hundley. Which is fine. I agree with doomer in that there are many good shooters as good, if not better, at "busting zones". When you constantly say kids are the "best" you are setting yourself up b/c it is a very biased opinion. For instance, shooter made predictions on the AAU tourny and when someone else predicts the Shining Stars he says "Who is on the team" after acting surprised that someone would make the comment. My point is unless you know other teams and have seen many players don't say they are the best and then wait for others to dispute it. It is not fair to those kids you are promoting.

 

What we need to realize is Shooter, and others, mean well. Obviously he thinks his players are "the best" or he would not have recruited them.
