Good read...

If you read the entire thing you can think of one of the guys you play with fitting every category.

I play with those guys 3 times a week other than "Too good". Although, when he shows up, you want him on your team.

I always seem to have to guard the sweaty guy.

I'm getting close to the "old guy" who jabs you as you go by him and will use the occasional forearm check.

I played in a church league with every one of those guys this past year. Funny stuff.

"Too good" is the worst of the characters described. I find that all the other characters bring something entertaining to a pick up game but when "too good" shows up, no one has any fun.

Yeah, he's no fun at all.

You want to get mad when he doesn't pass you the ball, then he does something spectacular, and your like "I wouldn't pass me the ball either".

I know what your sayin.

They need to add "too tall" to the list. I'm 6'1 and most of my buddies are between 5'10 and 6'3. "Too Good" seems to always bring "Too Tall" along to play with him. The guy who averages 20 boards a game and 16 points off put backs. The guy who can stand behind you out of position, disregard your blockout attempt and pull down boards all day. That guy is no fun either.

He gets on my nerves, too.

You know who else I hate playing with? I hate playing with the "birdman". He's the guy who is between 6'0-6'3, but he has the wingspan of a teradactil (sp).

I hate beating him off the dribble, going to the hole for an easy 2, only to have my shot blocked from behind (with no contact whatsoever) by a guy who is three feet farther away from the rim than I am. He doesn't move his feet the way we were all taught to play D, whether he can or not doesn't matter, but he let's you think you've got him beat and then he comes from behind and swats the ball clear out of bounds.

That's who I hate playing with the most, the "birdman".

By the way, I'm no leaper, but I can still get the rim.;)

You just described me perfectly. I suppose I am guilty of having the "birdman" trait. Like I said earlier, I am only 6'1 but for some reason I was given the wingspan of a 7 footer. My arms are freakishly long in comparison with my body. I do exactly what you are talking about. let my man blow by me and then trap his shot against the back board or throw it out of bounds. It makes a lot of people mad but if you have the wingspan that I do it's a lot of fun. Just as I assume being "Too Good" or "Too Tall" is a lot of fun also.

 Oops:lol:

I guess since you came clean, I'll tell everyone which one of the guys I relate to the most.

I'm ashamed to say that I most closely resemble "The Sweat Hog", or Speed Stickum Subigo. Except that I'm not overweight, hairy, nor do I play on the skins team.

I just happen to sweat profusely from the time the first game is ran, until everybody quits. Been that way ever since I was a kid.:D

That's an awesome article, thanks for posting it. :thumb: Some of those guys are annoying to play with but it always gives me and my friends something to joke about after the games are over.:D
