Just trying to get your thoughts on where you think Jr. will drive next season, and what number he'll be driving? Jr. said DEI will probably keep the 8 and there is uncertainty on whether or not Budweiser will go with him, IMO they will.

It will be one of the top 3 Chevy owners. Hendrick, Gibbs, or Childress. My money is on Hendrick, then Gibbs, then Childress. I believe that the "Dale Jr will drive the 3 car" will be discussed, too much. He has made it clear that he doesn't want to drive the 3.

 

As for Teresa Earnhardt and DEI, what a huge mistake they have made.

I hate Hendrick motorsports just as much as any Earnhardt fan. But, if Jr decides to drive for NASAR's Evil Empire, so be it. I'll still be a Jr fan and will root for Gordon and the rest to lose. If I decide to go back to watching NASCAR, that is.

My money is on Hendrick as well, not sure I like it but I'd say that's the best situation for him. Can you imagine that race team? I know Theresa gets a lot of credit for being a smart buisness woman, and she's also credited for making Sr. a lot of his money but she must have lost her touch after letting this happen.

I think some of the fans will turn on Little E for teaming with Gordon. They will view it as Ani teaming with the Emperor, the Rocket signing with the Yankees, Pitino signing to coach with UL.

NASCAR fans are different. Loyalty is with the driver, not the team. If Jr goes to Hendrick, which is evident that he will, 99% of his fans go along with him. Me included.

Childress or Gibbs is where JR will go IMO. Hendrick already has 4 teams and Nascar wont let an owner have 5 anymore. Casey Mears just signed with HM this year and to be honest, even if they could get rid of Mears. I dont think JR would be interested in driving the 25 car. That car doesnt get the attention that the 24,48,and 5 get and nobody has ever been able to win consistently with it. JR says he wont drive the 3 but if Childress,Goodwrench and Bud throw enough money at him, he will drive it. Something Jr said in the press conference kinda made me think. He said that at 32 years old he was at the same age his father was when SR. made "the most important decision of his driving career". Of course he was talking about when SR went to RCR.

Yes Bud did sponsor the 25 at one time but the reason they left the 25 and went to DEI is that the 25 wasnt running up to par with the other HM teams. JR stated more than once that it was his intentions to sign with a top tier team if possible and although the 25 is a "Hendrick" car it hasnt run competitve since Tim Richmond died 20 years ago. I dont think Bud will want JR to drive that car.

I agree the 25 car hasn't run up to par with the other Hendrick teams, but they haven't had a driver of Jr's caliber in it either. I think if he chose to drive the 25 car it wouldn't be any different than the other Hendrick teams, but I'd much rather see him go to RCR.

I agree. Mears and Dale Jr are polar opposites. Plus, most of Jr's team will probably go where Jr goes.
