May 18, 200719 yr Not in this situation, IMO. You can't compare this to any other situation. Jr will have to decide if he is comfortable sitting in a car with the number on the door that his dad made famous...and died in. Those are big shoes that I don't think he will want to fill at this time, no matter how much money is involved. Additionally, I don't think that Childress will put the pressure on him to do so.If it were only up to JR and RC I would agree with you. But the only problem is that its not going to be entirely up to those 2. If Bud, Wrangler, and Chevy tell JR and RC that THEY want JR in that 3 car then JR and RC would have no choice but to do it or they would risk losing them as sponsors. The only way I see JR not getting in the 3 next year is if RC and Teresa swap numbers with Teresa getting the rights to the number 3 for marketing purposes and RC getting the 8. I dont think RC will do that. You gotta understand that this is big BUISNESS now with multibillion $ companies involved. These companies have Millions of $ invested in JR and they know how much money and media exposure can be had if JR gets in that 3 car.
