Ashland 4 Boyd 3

Featured Replies

And the romping was also against a Sophmore that Ashland brought up from JV just to pitch vs Boyd. I wouldn't say he's in their top 7 or 8 pitchers either.

By the way, Ashlands pitching and defense held Boyd to only 3 runs. If they can play that way almost every game it gives them a chance to win no matter who is on the mound for the opponent. Thats the same for every team. If you can give yourself a chance to win, errors, bad hops and lucky ones could give you a chance because they happen every game.

ok....ok....Blah....blah...go tomcats...See you in districts....1 and OUT.........

kingofthejungle you must be very young.

In baseball anything can happen on a giving day.

Thats the reason I have loved this game for over 30 years.

In baseball never say never.

Just some advise.

This was a very good game and respect that.

Everyboby needs to settle down a little, congrats to Ashland on the win. This game was lost before the bus ever left cannonsburg. Boyd was flat out overlooking Ashland ,they have not played a close game inside the region all year and beat them bad a couple of weeks ago. Most of their games of late have been 5 innings or at least one sided. While I dont think a loss is ever good this may have been just what they needed by a district team to focus in on what could happen later on. The only thing bad for Ashland is they may have done it 3 weeks early. Thanks to Ashland, you may have just gave us the dose of medicine we needed to get through the post season.

By the way if the correct call is made at 2nd base where Sturgill lays his glove on the bag for the force out the final score is 3-1 Boyd but that is not the 1st or last blown call from him.

Exactly Bobbyearl....My point was this game was hand delivered to Ashland by Boyd.......If Boyd throws Moore, Perkins, Bowling , Branham, or even Young Moore, Ashland could not and would not be able to hang in a game.

On this night, Ashland defeated Boyd County. Let's discuss this game, not future and what ifs.

I agree with everthing your saying. But keep in mind this is what seperates Boyd Co. baseball from other teams. Any of those pitchers you mentioned would have gave Boyd a better chance to win the game. The same thing can be said for about 4 of their 7 losses on the season, they have lost those games pitching young kids while having better more experienced pitchers on the bench and needing some work. Sometimes its frustrating to watch, but its about gaining experience for a kid for next season. Plus its had to cross the coaches minds, how are we gonna respond in a close game in a few weeks, we have not had one in a while. And a coach can tell kids to play hard and respect each and every team they play but kids are still kids. Dont look for the coaching staff to be to upset with this loss. Ashland just gave them a better message than any 2 hr. lecture from a coach would be.

They may have just woke a sleeping giant.:thumb:

Keep dreaming Monty. Good win for the Tomcats! Better hope you draw the Hill.

They will. Always do.
