Danville 4 Bishop Brossart 3

Very ugly game.Umps were not good tonight/for either team.:creepy:

I second that one... IMO they were very intimdated with the weight of the game.

Unfortunately the umpiring had to enter into what was a major ramifications game.

Still Rick Whitten pitched a great game allowing five hits and striking out nine, including the Mustangs' power hitters with runners in scoring position.

Nathan Mutsch was equally effective allowing only one earned run.

Errors and mental mistakes also factored into the Brossart loss.

Best of luck to the Admirals in the All "A" State Tournament!!!

Danville will meet Owensboro Catholic in the first round at Applebee's Park ... a heck of a first-round matchup.

A rematch of last year's semifinal matchup, which Owensboro Catholic won 4-1.

Congrats to the Ads.

My hats off to Nathan Mutsch. He pitched a very good game.:thumb:

Umpiring must have been horrendous in this one, as Brossart's Coach Rowe has gone his entire HC career (313 games) without getting tossed, and he's a pretty emotional guy!! Reports I've heard from the BB end was while the umps (especially the field ump who apparently spent the first several innings carrying on a running conversation with the Danville 1st baseman--a relative?? :D ) didn't help, mistakes probably cost the game. Didn't sound like either team brought their "A" game--no pun intended!! :D

Good luck to the Ads in the rest of the tourney!!

As far as the Ump and the first basemen being related Im not sure. I was at the game but I was not paying any attention to the ump and the The First baseman talking to each other. The Umps were bad both ways. The Field Ump was also into it with a coach in The Ads Dugout. The Plate Ump Threw out someone in the press box from Danville. So there was no Favoritism,Just bad Umpiring.Unfortunatley This happens sometimes, Umps are Human.I would never want to be one.:thumb:

Just kidding about the relative thing, but I heard he did spend the better part of the first four innings more interested in their conversation than the game?? Again I agree from what I've heard they didn't decide the outcome, as they were horrible on both sides!!

Tossing that many and arguing, etc. sounds to me like these guys were out of their league doing an important game?? Pretty disappointing for both teams to have that kind of officiating in a game of that magnitude!! Doubt I'd like to try umpiring either, but if you're going to get paid, and kids travel 2 1/2 hours to play an important game; they at least deserve quality umpiring, and an honest effort!!

Yea the umps were very unprofessional/Thin Skinned.I know you were just kidding about the relative thing. You are exactly right about the Umps being paid and the Kids traveling 2 1/2 hours for an important game! It was a win for Danville that went there way.I wish there was a way to make a series of games between opponents.I will be pulling for Bishop Brossart and the all of the 1A schools...:thumb:

Good luck to the Ads getting a little payback against OCath--Brossart had the same scenerio in the All "A" hoops and was able to gain some revenge against Bardstown, who had eliminated us last year!!

Yeah, I believe that the home plate ump tried to toss a fan for complaining. As an umpire you can only make half the people happy when you make a tight call so how can you justify throwing out a fan for complaining as long as the umpire wasn't being threatened. There was a lot of complaining from both sides. It was weird... Like I said earlier, I thought they may have appeared to be a little intimidated.
