A big ol' :thumb: :thumb: on fishing a plastic worm! Also, as you probably already know the bass in the heat of summer feed hard a night just about everywhere. Imo in very clear lakes this is the best way to go. Another plus to night fishng is that you don't have to put up with all of the jet Skiers, pleasure boaters and other menaces to society .

 

Another point that I will make is that I have also caught plenty of bass in the heat of summer in the daytime in waters shallow you would wonder how anything could swim in it :eek: . Especially on river systems or in the upper regions of lakes and resiviors. Try a buzzbait in this skinny watrer in the heat of summer .

We were just out there the first week of April. Three of us caught 154 fourteen inches or bigger with the biggest being 21.5 and 5lbs 9oz on the lie detector. The lake is very clear. It is on the FLW tour. The heat out there in the summer is intense. I don't think I could stand to fish during the day. I am looking forward to trying out the night thing during the dead period. Where are some of your favorite fishing holes? I am going to go to KY lake to panfish the last five days of May.

Put a worm on the hook & throw it out there. Seems to work pretty good for me.

I haven't been on a lot of trips outside my area of N.E.Ky., I have had some good trips in past years at Dale Hollow, (another very good summer night lake). My trips to Dale were in the early spring though and I didn't do any night fishing. I like to have a good knowledge of the area/lake that I am going to fish if I go out at night (safety reasons). Other than a few trips to fish tournaments years ago outside my area I have mainly fished the Ohio River, Grayson Lake, Greenbo Lake,Cave Run and Yatesville Lakes. I would rate Yatesville and Cave Run the two best out of these. I probably have fished the Ohio River and its tributaries more than any. The "river" can be very tough most of the time. Is just very close to my residence so I naturally go there more often.

 

I don't get out as much as I used to anymore due to me being disabled. I do have a couple of very good friends that I have fished with and tournament fished with (when I was able) for years that realize my limitations and help me along. So now anytime that I can get out and "chuck" a spinnerbait, crank or plastic worm to a ol' log or laydown I am happy. Getting out and enjoying friends and God's great outdoors is the main thing. :thumb: BTW, I have used that smae "lie dectector" scale on a few occasions myself - LOL.

:thumb: Good for you! I equate those kind of so called fishermen to the "poachers" that we have in hunting . These kind are not fishermen or a sportsman and they put a "black eye" on everyone that does things in the right way.

Buzzbaits in fall. Nothing like seeing a big bass come up and suck down a buzz.

This past March (second weekend) I had nice success throwing a 4-8 foot diving red/brown crawdad style crankbait. We were fishing way up in the back of a creek, focusing on channel banks and points.

 

In a day and a morning of fishing I caught 3 fish over 4lbs, another almost 3 lbs, 3 more fish over 15 inches, and a dozen or so short fish.

 

It was probably the best day and half I have ever had. Not to mention it the temperature was in the high 70's and it was beautiful.

 

I REALLY want to go bass fishing.

That was one heck of a day for sure! :thumb: Those are few and far betwen. Those crawdad crankbaits are great in the early season. I like the old Storm "wiggle warts" in the brown crawdad color. This had brown/black back and orange/red belly and I have caught many good fish on that one over the years.

Nope. I don't use a line or pole. I just get them to come to the top & I blast them with my AK. Duhhhh.

I also love all your favorites (especially sloww rolling the blade;) ) and could add fishing a worm and shallow running crankbait, bumping it off cover.

Topwater strikes are by far my favorite, and I've had the most like so far this spring with my lucky 13. This year is the first time I've fished with the full sized Lucky 13, in the past I've only used the baby lucky 13, but I've caught some nice fish and even a monster on the full size this year.
