First photo of Heath Ledger as the Joker?

Featured Replies

I believe Aint it cool news is the first site to show this photo. It's believed this is a makeup/test photo. From all the bits and pieces of info that are out there, the makeup in the movie may not be far off from this when you finally see the movie in theatres. I don't know what I think of it, having grown up with Jack Nicholson as the Joker.

His new album comes out June 5, it's called "Eat me, Drink me" partly in reference to Alice in Wonderland. He is directing a movie on part of the life of Lewis Carroll that should come out by the end of this year. My avatar is the album cover.

Broke back joker

I remember rumors of Johnny Depp playing the joker were floating around before they announced Heath Ledger. I can't look at Heath Ledger without comparing him to how I think Depp would have fit the role, which would be exponentially better than Ledger.

Or for that matter, how much better anyone really would be....

Very true. Though I thought this would be the perfect role for Depp, he usually plays kind of weird guys in his movies.

As a comic book collector I have to say that if that is close to the final product then I will be disappointed.

According to the comic book "genesis"

The Joker's skin was bleached chalky white, his hair turned bright green and his face frozen into an grotesque smile by the chemicals he was imersed in. Nicholson's Joker was like that. This one shows a pallor to the skin and what look like scars at the ends of his mouth making the "grin" and his hair is no where close to green enough.

Also in the comics the Joker is completely unrecognizeable, his past identity is a mystery, he doesn't even remember it. Jack Napier was a movie invention.

To busy with comics for D & D.

I would definitely bet that this finished product for the movie will be much better looking than that is.

This is supposed to be a more realistic Batman series than the comics or the previous movies....If you're looking for a "chalk white" Joker, this isn't the series for you...
