April 26, 200719 yr Even with college kids, I say 30% tops. That's naive. I personally don't see the big deal with pot. Here's the reason. I've been around a lot of crowds, the hippies, jocks....whatever. More injuries, accidents, and irreperable harm has come as a result of alcohol abuse than pot abuse. The only reason that people have a problem with it, and rightfully so, is that it is illegal. Legalize it...the taxes will add revenue to the state and legalization takes away some of the edge that the pot culture has created.
April 26, 200719 yr Of college kids I'd estimate about 75% have tried pot. I wouldn't guess a %, but I'd be very surprised if it's less than 30%. I think you could start a poll on here and if everyone's honest it would be higher than that for people who have at least tried. I think we've had 2 or 3 people say they have not tried it. Most of the athletes that are being drafted this weekend have had more access to pot than a lot of others in this country.
April 27, 200719 yr Good for them...who really cares? Who has never tried it?I have honestly never tried it. But then again I really don't care if anyone else has. Now if someone is a user and gets caught or it causes them money problems or other issues there is a price to pay and I don't feel pity for them. But of my friends in college, I would say the vast majority have tried it at least once to see what it was like (like these player said they did) but I have always been in a position of responsiblity that made me believe that trying it was much to much a risky to see any reward. And at this point I have no desire to even try it. Plus it is illegal.
April 28, 200719 yr Alot of kids experiment with it. It would be ignorant to think otherwise. I think it is good that these kids admit it. If they were habitual users I doubt they would've admitted it. And plus they passed the drug test they were given.
April 28, 200719 yr I understand that they admitted to pot, but why didn't GM's ask players if they drank underage? Drinking underage and binge drinking is soooooo much more of a problem in college than pot.
