April 13, 200719 yr "It's pretty much UConn and Cincinnati that we have been hearing from," said Coach Brown. "We haven't really heard from Florida or Tennessee lately. Maryland has also called some recently." What gives??? I'm sure Gillispie did visit him or at least call him, but, just because UK isn't listed in his coaches comment, doesn't mean much...IMO, what he's saying, is that UConn and Cincy have been making the most effort on getting him, which is probably true and it's very possible, McClain told him he's already narrowed it down to these other schools and wasn't interested in UKs late pitch...I, at least give BG props for making an effort even when there was only a remote possibility he would come....

I told you guys McClain was a done deal when his name was first mentioned...
April 13, 200719 yr I told you guys McClain was a done deal when his name was first mentioned... And did I argue with you? No! Big time recruits are getting offers from every angle and even though they may not have narrowed there choice to 1, they usually have it down to a select few and it's near impossible to have someone come in at the last minute and say hey, come here instead. I still give BG props for the effort, though...

April 13, 200719 yr I didn't say you did. Just having some fun. Relax... :thumb: I agreed with you when you said it...I wasn't upset, if thats what you think...I'm super chilled about it...
April 13, 200719 yr In the newspaper it said that Jordan said if it came down to his choice then he would come to UK, but he was going to wait and see.
April 13, 200719 yr I hope he honors his commitment to A&M. Just like I think Billy Donovan made the right choice to stay at Florida. UK should take the high road to get back on track. Taking the Gator's championship coach and Texas A&M's top recruit is not the way to go. We have already got A&M's coach. That's enough. Let's go a different direction now.

These comments don't even make sense...Did Florida think of Marshall when they took Donovan? Did Arkansas think of S.Alabama when they took Pelphrey? Did NCarolina think of Kansas when they took Williams? Did Kansas think of Illinois when they took Self? The list goes on and on. You do what you think is best for the program your at. UK is no different. They're certainly not taking the low road, by any means. As far as Jordan goes, if he opts out of the LOI and decides to go to UCLA or Louisville or Florida or anywhere else, do you think any of those teams are going to not take him, if thats where he wants to go? Of course they would take him, so, if he does and decides on UK, we're no different. We shouldn't say no. We should welcome the kid with open arms, like everyone else. Noone is saying to go and talk him into anything, but, if he's that close to Gillispie and decides he wants to do it, so be it....It has nothing to do with what direction they're going...

April 14, 200719 yr Where did the Jordan posts come from??? The same place the Grutza posts did... You know how these threads can get completely off subject....

My statement on Donavon was a personal statement. I hate to see a situation where a coach has to take a team back to where he used to coach, and then have to play on the same court which will be named for him. Talk about awkward.:creepy: At least Roy williams is not coaching in the same conference where he once coached. That makes it a little easier.
