April 4, 200719 yr Here's a few certainties: 1) He's interested or could have put this whole thing to rest along time ago. 2) The longer this plays out, the worse it looks for UK, because, it gives UF more time to convince him to stay and as the signing deadline nears, makes recruits less certain. 3) Don't expect an answer before late friday or early saturday and most likely, not till next week. 4) With the Memphis Grizzlies 5M offer on the table, expect UK to increase the offer from the initial 2.8-3.5 range to closer to 4M.(unbelievable)
April 5, 200719 yr My source says Barnes, but I want Gillespie. I think it is a 2 horse race with Barnes & Billy G.(if BD bows out) and either will be fine but I would pick BG based upon what he did this year. Well I hope your source is wrong. Please....not Barnes.
April 5, 200719 yr Relax people...UK has not even asked for permission to speak to Donovan. We should, hopefully, know something by the weekend. Didn't UNC wait Roy Williams out two weeks before hiring him?
April 5, 200719 yr Relax people...UK has not even asked for permission to speak to Donovan. A few questions, could UK have asked for permission and no one is bringing it public? Not Florida, not UK or anyone else involved? Does the "search firm" need to have permission to talk to at least Donovan's agent? This one has to do with both of the things listed above: How did Minnesota get everything done so fast with Tubby? As there was no mention of them contacting UK for permission?
April 5, 200719 yr Didn't UNC wait Roy Williams out two weeks before hiring him? Yes, and that is why i am concerned that Barnhart has started the countdown, which I am afraid will end Saturday or Sunday. This is not only about this years recruiting class, but UK basketball for years down the road, we shouldn't end the clock on Donovan within the next couple of days.
April 5, 200719 yr Billy would be my pick for the Cats BUT...he isn't the only guy who could be a great coach for the Cats. I liked the Mountaineer guy who went to Michigan.
April 5, 200719 yr What happend to the Mark Few talk in all this?? Well, the people on BGP didn't like the idea of him coming to coach here, so UK's selection committee, the national media, and the rest of the world stopped talking about it.
April 5, 200719 yr Donovan will announce this afternoon that he's staying at Florida. He and Foley met this morning and reached agreements for a new contract. ESPN just had a breaking news phone conversation with Billy D which is the source and Donovan is expected to make it official later today to the public.
