April 1, 200719 yr I've heard, not from any reliable sources, but from my dad, that Tubby originally wanted the Michigan job. They had a nepatism(sp?) rule there, so Saul couldn't be on his staff, so he looked into the Gophers....Just thought I'd throw that out there.

If that rumor is true, they lost out on a pretty good coach.

It's his job to report what he is told if it comes from "reliable" sources....My problem with both him and Vitale is when they've discussed the UK job they have made some harsh comments about UK fans, which are true IMO, however they do so as a blanket generalization making it out to be the entire fanbase that's off their rockers....

April 1, 200719 yr Take away Saul Smith and add a good asst. to the other two and thats a descent staff of asst: Coaches. Anyone else find it interesting that he hired Ron Jirsa.

Just would like to know how HARSH Vitale would be if the situation was Duke instead of Ky...Since he NEVER forgets to include the "Cameron Crazies" in his broadcast!! I,for one,don't care if he ever walks into Rupp again!!

April 1, 200719 yr He WANTED Saul at UK very soon also. He had been planning this for sometime. I don't see their recruiting beefing up anytime soon.
