No to a State Title, in fact we will probably only see one of the three at the state tournament next year...if we're lucky. It's tough to get back to Rupp for teams that don't make it a habit.

No i do not think neither one will ever win the state. They possibly might make it back but just to the first round and thats about it. But it would be great to see a mountain team at least make it to Saturday mourning. I dont see it happening in a long time.

We have already had countless threads on getting Kentucky into classes, but until that happens, these schools would have no shot.

 

As we saw with Elliott this year, they got a nice win, but it was against a team they were evenly matched up with. We saw the end result in the 2nd round.

 

You never want to say never and I pull for the underdog, but unless the system is changed, these schools will struggle in the current settings.

Wow--You guys are really stretching it if you try to consider Mason or S. Laurel small schools--Both are the high end of 3-A if I'm not mistaken!!

Usually you are right but on this one your wrong,Mason is one of the smallest 3a schools they only qualified for 3a by like 30 kids to many or they would have been 2a.

Your right, but I'm only half wrong on this one. Mason (#105 @ 783 kids) is indeed near the bottom of 3-A and will stay in 3-A in the new alignment, but S. Laurel (#40 @ 1172 kids) is near the top and will compete at the 5-A level going forward. I can't think of many that would consider either a "small school" however??

Timmy Knipp recently went to the doctor about his ankle and the doctor predicted him to be at least 6'10 before he graduated. Elliott County would be hard to handle with a post presence like that. Also want to mention that Knipp's ankle is progressing, he still isnt playing on it but isnt having any trouble walking on it. He should be playing again in the next week or two.
