Elder TE, Rudolph commits to Notre Dame

Featured Replies

Very nice and not a surprise.

Notre Dame insiders have felt that Rudolph would be Irish for awhile now. It is nice to get someone from so close to Columbus.

He will have plenty of competion for playing time. John Carlson (a 5th year senior and returning starter) has serious NFL potential. He will likely also be behind a pair of 4 star TEs already on campus. Konrad Reuland (Soph) and Mike Ragone (Fresh). Both were rated the #3 TE by Rivals in their respective classes.

This kid will not hit South Bend until the fall of 2008 which means Carlson will be gone, correct? If they redshirt him, he will not see the field until 2009.

Duh. That was stupid. Thanks.

Weis hasn't used many redshirts so far. Hopefully they will start to get enough depth so that they can begin to do so. Notre Dame works 5th year seniors different than most schools. In most cases I belive that you have to receive permission from the univesity to return for a 5th year and that you also have to have completed your degree and be enrolled in grad school.

That's awesome. Kyle has some great parents, I know their proud. Another 'Rudy' headed to South Bend.

Lets hope he's more talented than the original.

I wouldn't say a "rudy" he is the #2 TE in the country he isn't a walk-on, but maybe a similarity in personality?

Rudolph=Rudy...It's a nickname, zero similarities...

Congrats on going to a mid major where you have zero chance on winning a B.C.S. game.

Unbelievable...

Don't worry about possibly obtaining one of the most prestigious college degrees on the planet...

Keep telling yourself that. Weis will rebuild the Irish, I have no doubts about that. Sounds like sour grapes that the kid picked ND over tO$U.

I don't recall his name being mentioned with Ohio State but, I could be wrong.

I think that it was pretty much a two horse race for his services. Hard to find anything that I can link on here but...

Rudolph

The 6-foot-7 Rudolph, brawny and rugged in the 220-pound range, already is a two-time Greater Catholic League South basketball player of the year. He also is a football tight end coveted by major colleges including Ohio State and Notre Dame, and he says he will play college football.
