Pettigrew earned it for his play through out the year.

Walls also earned it throughout the season. Starting with a great opening game vs. Ballard. He played really well against some great teams like Ballard, Bryan Station(3 times), LexCath (twice), Clark Co, Tates Creek, CovCath, Holmes, just to name a few.

Also he played really well at the Beach Ball Classic, one of the 2 or 3 premiere Holiday tournaments. He led Scott Co in scoring when beating the #1 ranked Huntington Highschool team. The ultimate goal of a basketball player is to make his team as successful as it can be and I believe that Matt Walls has accomplished that.

Now, Pettigrew is a great talent and had an amazing season, but to me its hard to give it to a player who did not even make it to the district finals.

Etown lost 10 seniors and returned only two players with varsity experience. Both of those players went down in the 2nd and 3rd games of the season with broken bones. Neither really returned and played as well as they might/could have if not for the injuries. Meanwhile Steffphon is playing with a bunch of kids with NO experience at all. He literally won all but 4 games this season on his own. I think Scott County had enough talent without Walls to still win the title.

Will Pettigrew and the Louisville kids split the votes from that side of the state and Walls get the vast majority from this side?

Miller from Mason County will make a run for the money in 08.

Without Walls Scott Co wouldnt had got out of the 11th region. I think those who have seen Walls over 10 times this season like I have know just how good he actually is.

This time last year Profitt was considered the front runner for Mr. Basketball. You never know what next year will bring.

How true:ylsuper:

Walls faced Knowles and played a whole lot better than Knowles did. Walls is a much better high school player than Knowles is. Walls and Hill both had very good supporting casts. What happened? Hill had a subpar game while Walls had 26 points and had to carry the load with Mackey in foul trouble.

All this talk about Walls not being the top player on his team is false. Bud and Matt both had great years and really up until the 4th qtr Walls had a much better Sweet 16. Both players were equally important to the team.

Walls is a much better player than Knowles? ;) Some might say Walls is better than Knowles. I can live with that. But to say somebody is MUCH better than Knowles this year, is almost insane. Also when they played each other, Knowles got some unlucky calls and fouled out midway through the 3rd quarter

IMO Knowles is the better of the two.

The key word here is consistency. I saw Knowles play 5 different times. He had 1 really good game, 1 decent game, and 3 subpar games.

With Walls the key word is consistency. He brings it every game. He also fills up the stat sheet with points, rebounds, assists, steals, etc. Its true that Knowles is capable of having a really big game, but he was just so inconsistent. I saw Matt Walls play a lot more than Knowles this year and the only subpar game I saw was the championship game. But he had come off basically playing the entire game 3 games in a row and I think he was fatigued.

When they played head to head, Walls was much much better. Walls also played every game with no suspensions or disciplinary problems.

Or you can say that Knowles is explosive, and can go off for 30+ on any given night.

They both bring different things to the table; Walls is the better point guard and floor leader, but Knowles IMO is the more talented player.

Mr. Basketball is scheduled to be announced April 10th.

Miss Basketball is scheduled for April 5.

I'm hoping there are two press conferences at Scott Co. High.

Or you could say that Matt Walls could go off for 30 any given night. Hes done that a few times this season. I think Walls does a much better job in other categories as well that some people tend to overlook.
