March 23, 200719 yr Author Insightful or not, my post is true of some of the Kentucky fan base, and you know it... True it is for some fans...you'll have to forgive me, I've grown a little tired (and perhaps overly sensitive) to the constant put-down of UK fans that is becoming quite popular these days. In any case, I think a majority of the fan base will be more patient than most people expect if they get a coach who 1) plays an entertaining style and 2) shows signs of getting the ship steered in the right direction. I think most people realize that the new coach isn't going to be inheriting a plethora of talent and that it's going to take some time to get UK back to the level that is desired. And, that point, in itself sums up Tubby Smith at UK...he took over a team that won a title in '96, was runner-up in '97, and then won another title in his first year. A program on the top of the heap. And yes, I know it would have been impossible to maintain that level, but... ...the next coach will inherit a team coming off back-to-back 8 seeds and 12-loss seasons...a glaring lack of talent and athleticism and a lot of work to do. That's a pretty long way to fall in 10 years at a program like UK, IMO. I'm not recruiting guru, but if you can't recruit at UK under those circumstances, then something is wrong. But, in any case, I apologize for the snappy comment. Maybe a little hyper-sensitive:lol: and sick to boot. :thumb:

March 23, 200719 yr I think it's hard to judge at the moment. You'd have to wait and see who transfers if any, who leaves for the league if any, what recruits come or go and if the new coach brings anyone with him. But it's a very good question. I agree. As the situation now stands it is very difficult to make a prediction. The key word now is "Patience".
March 23, 200719 yr This coach would get 3 to 5 years, and 5 years being the most. If things haven't changed in 5 years then they would gone. The new coach will get alot more slack from the fans though, because it is alot easier taking over a job that has room for improvement, than taking over a job that there is no place to go but down. And that will be the difference between Tubby and the new coach. Tubby came at a time, when people thought Pitino was God, and no coach in America would have been able to follow Pitino and have the fans like him. This coach however will have all the fans support from the very beginning, as long as it is a good hire...
March 23, 200719 yr Not fast enough for UK fans...:thumb:For us either. Jurich would have had Pat Riley on a ten year contract by now... Tic Toc Tic Toc
