March 22, 200719 yr "..Tubby is a fantastic coach.." "..This is a great hire, I love it!.." Their fans are absolutely thrilled about this. I know this stat doesn't mean much for Kentucky fans, but: Star Tribune: "...With the soon-to-be hire of Tubby Smith, already 100 season tickets have been sold..." I hope he does the best job in the world at Minnesota. I have a lot of respect for Smith. On a side note: Fans of Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin are mad (although Wisconsin has a coach) that the Gophers got Tubby.
March 22, 200719 yr Andy Katz said last week that Tubby would be a perfect fit at Michigan and people on here said he would never leave to go north, would only leave for the NBA, or wouldn't coach in the Big 10. Looks like Katz was closer than we thought....

March 23, 200719 yr The only Minnesota coach with pressure to reach the Sweet 16 is the hockey coach. And that includes Tubby.
