They are calling back 4 of the 8 that interviewed this week next week for round two. Not sure who.

Same thing I heard... I was told there are some really good applicants they interviewed!

How did they go?? Who is the front-runner?

I heard they went good- If they narrowed to 4 it is real close to a "hiring"!

Hurry up- so they can have a spring practice! I guess they are still in a time frame for spring practice?

There time frame has been closed for about 4 weeks.

I heard that one of the candidates that was interviewed was former Hancock County start, Travis Atwell. Like I said.. I heard. Don't quote me on this. But once again I'm saything this, as a true Greyhound backer, unless the administration gets behind the football program, then Paris should forget about playing football and consolidating schools, because it is definatly time! ..Athletic wise. Academic wise..Paris is a great school. But we all konw this is Bluegrass Preps.com so we are talking about athletics. I love Paris dearly but seeing it first hand, I truly do not believe they will field a team next year. If someone on here can tell me where they will get enough players, then I would love to know! I don't mind speaking the truth. Paris is struggling and if they don't do something fast, you think Bourbon County was bad..Paris could be worse!! And that's coming from me..someone that knows the Greyhound program personally!

That is what I thought, they had like 30 players last year and 15 of them were Srs. I can not figure where the players are going to come from?

They will have a team... they should have over 20 kids. As long as they can field a team they will have a season.

I don't see them consolidating unless Paris goes into the red, at one time everyone thought that was going to happen to BCHS, but it didn't. There are too many people that don't want to see that happen, including myself.

Everyone has their senior 2007 blinders on right now...

Difference right now between Paris' "about 20" and BCHS 75 players is- Paris has a team that knows how to hit. Only thing that could be worse is that they get plagued with injuries...

Can anyone RECALL how many Doug Preston had playing at the final of that season? It got thin-but it wasn't a goose egg season.

It is way too early to count them out-

The upcoming seniors for Paris this season (I was just told are):

Travis Angel

Tavione Fields

Jeremy Shupe

Des Henson

Zak Stevens

Zak Klemper

Terell Harris

Lawrence Myers

Angel/Fields/Shupe/Stevens/ Klemper all were starters last year

Harris & Myers saw lots of playing time their soph. year- sat out their Jr year.

Does anyone realize that there were more juniors that were All-district this past season then there were seniors? Does anyone besides an old foagie see this kind of stuff?

I can't recall all the kids names that are the upcoming juniors-upcoming fresh.

But I can come up with 20 faces that I know that are playing.

I know of two names that return to the line Henson and Janon Jones (two guys that are not small- not as tall as C.Dumphord-but very strong)

I would think that the Maggard kid will join the line this year ...

They finshed the game against Owen County with 10 players. They lost the game 61-36 in 1997. And the 10th player was a kicker who never played during a live scrimmage. He was on the field but he pretty much setback and watched the action. I can remember Paris pulling two of their best lineman off the line to run the football.

Tell me something KyFan11, when was the last time Paris beat a football team they weren't suppose to beat? And yes, Paris had 15 seniors on this past team, but what did they do. Check out Raceland's seniors class this year and LCA's senior class last season. LCA beat Beechwood and Raceland knocked off a good LCA team twice this seaosn and not only that, they beat Ashland and played Newport Catholic tough.

1n 2001 when Paris finished 10-2, they lost to Beechwood 35-7. That was the best senior class to come out of Paris (footballl wise) in this decade.

In 2002, Paris lost to Newport Catholic 57-14.

1n 2003, against some stiff competition, Paris lost to Harrodsburg 60-0, LCA 62-26, Raceland 50-22 and Fairview 55-6.

In 2004, in what should've been the best senior class in this decade (but player problems and injuries kept that from happening) Paris lost to LCA 48-6 and Beechwood 60-12. The Wood actually led this game 54-0 with 12:00 to go in the first half.

In 2005, the Hounds lost to Frankfort 53-6, LCA 49-13 and Newport Catholic 51-6.

And just this past season, they lost to LCA 56-14 and Raceland 40-8 and 43-26.

To be a true football program, you must be able to compete in your class, and over the past 10 years, Paris (with the exception of the 1998 and 2001 teams) couldn't do that. Think about Frankfort, who knocked off Danville. Could any Paris team do that? Nope! The thing I can remember back in my days as a Greyhound, playing teams like Harrodsburg, Beechwood, Russellville, Corbin, Mayfield, Henry Clay, Bellevue and so on, those are the teams we wanted to play. Our Paris teams back in the 80's would beat the Paris teams today by 60 or 70 points. And we would've played some smash mouth football against the Beechwood's, New Cath's, the LCA's or whoever, because we where Paris Football and back then, that stand for Pride ... Paris Pride! The football program today is a joke and whoever takes over, better be ready for a bumpy ride!

I don't have a problem in telling the truth!

I ain't got no problem with what you think- the new day the old days-

I ain't got no problem of what did the 15 senior do?

Cause that is what I am saying, Paris lost 15 seniors and now all of a sudden people thinks there isn't even going to be a team-

I didn't come on here and say they was going to be state- I said that people are underestimating- and they should hopefully be competive ...

And yes they did get outclassed each year in the first rounds of playoffs.

(the start of this thread was to be construtive and there is no such thing as constructive critisim- critisim and constructive are two different words with two totally opposite meanings)

So best thing I can think of for all the negative people on this thread can't seem to be positive about Paris is to- dig out your old VHS tapes and relive your glory days... Your alls negative talk is going to hurt those who do have positive attitudes and maybe anyone intrested in breathing air into the program.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What does Paris need to do to improve in 2007? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

I'm being very constructive ... I'm telling the truth. The Guru said, what they need to do to be successful and I've said it. They need the support of the administration and to be honest, they don't have that. Don't get me wrong, they are great kids but not great football players. I'm sorry that I may have anger you but there's no reason to lie. Why do you think this year's senior class, will be better than those senior classes in the past few years? I'm not saying these things to start an argument, I'm just stating the facts.
