When you say that Tilghman "won't have an answer" for three players, you're implying that it will be a blowout. Tilghman will have an answer for them ... still, it may not be enough.

 

Holmes is one of the state's most athletic teams ... they are the favorite, and should be.

 

I guess it was a misunderstanding then. My apologies. When I say they wont have an answer for them, I guess I should say, Rice, Hill, and Henderson will be the better player than who they're matched up with, so they'll have the advantage the whole night.

 

But as far as being one of the most athletic teams in the state, I'm glad we can agree on that. This will be a great game but Holmes experience combined with their athleticism and overall talent will be too much for the Tornadoes.

 

Another thing is I don't think PT is deep as Holmes. The Dawgs can rotate 8-9 players in and out and not lose a beat. This will be key if Holmes decides to press, which I'm thinking Henley will probably do.

 

A couple questions I have are:

1) How deep are they?

2) Have they faced any other teams with as much athleticism as them?

3) How are they going to respond to a more in your face physical defensive style that Holmes is going to bring?

With the exception of a couple of teams (Graves last year & Tilghman 5-6yrs ago) that have excelled and probably because they traveled outside of the first region to play several games in those years. As a whole the first region officials call a tighter game not as physical of play occurs. The up state teams are used to a physical style of play because thats just the way the officials call it up there. If Tilghman looks for early whistles on bumps and knocks it could get in to their heads a little and make for a long night. An After thought: if you don't think St. Henry could not come to West KY and win the first region you are crazy. They are one of the finest coached teams I've seen in a while. Yes they probably would not run the table in the first but I'll guarantee you nobdy would want to play them a second time. Just ask Cov. Cath (loss to St.Henry) and Holmes (loss to St. Henry and win after trailing for three quarters in region semi's only to finally wear them down with their outstanding athletes relentless pressure).

I like Holmes by 15, they have been playing as a whole toward the last part of the season. If they do this in the tourney watch out!!!

All I know is that Holmes played a significantly harder schedule.

Tilghman played the toughest schedule of anyone in the 1st Region ... they've been through physical play before and seen some teams that have Holmes' kind of athleticism.

No, but you could say the same thing about almost every team. They are all on a mission. Digger says that on ESPN on the time "the team is on a mission" which I find funny because every team is on a mission to win.

Back to the game. I think guard play will determine the game. PT has strong inside players but the backcourt is small and not as talented. I think the 2 sophomore guards off the bench are more talented than the 2 starters.

That's not a good sign. Holmes will pressure them into turnovers and not let them get into an offensive flow. I think Holmes will win by 10 - 12, but if they lose focus they could be coming back home to NKY quickly.

They are quick but from what I have taken in not as talented as Holmes' backcourt. The backcourt IMO will determine the game.

Holmes backcourt is the best in nky and probably one of the top 10 in the state. Jefferson and Hill determine everything. If you try to key on them, you have Rice, Henderson and Nelson down low.

 

IMO Rice and Henderson are going to both dominate this game.
