I 100% agree with you on Terry being a great player and although I don't know her I understand and believe that she is a fine young lady and great person. I didn't have a so to speak "dog in this fight" other than I was really pulling for RH. I will say though in all due respect that complaining about the officiating only takes away from ther fine effort of the team and gives everyone an excuse to fall back on. JMO.

 

Congrats again to Terry, all of the players, coaches, fans and parents of the Rose Hill Lady Royals on a fine season. :thumb:

 

Not taking anything away from anyone, just hated to see a great kid like Laura get shafted. Giving an opinion does not diminish her efforts. The refs get evaluated on here just like the players. I just wish there was some way to hold the few to a higher standard that most of the officials hold themselves to.

That is probably what he was refering to. I wasn't at the game but listened to it. Congratulations to PCC and I hope they make it all the way. Also I am very proud of the Lady Royals for getting back to Diddle. Played their best games during the Region.

Good job in tearing down a fine young lady. Terry was a "non factor", as you say, due to a certain official that decided to take it upon himself to take her out of the game. He has done this to her in previous games he officiated in AAU. I know this sounds like sour grapes, but it is a shame a great high school career had to end on this kind of note. Laura is a great kid that will be missed tremendously by the Rose Hill community, but will be a wonderful asset to the University of Louisville. We are all very proud of all the girls on this years team.

I have personally witnessed this official, for whatever reason, unduly take her out of AAU games. I don't know of any other history, just only what I have seen for myself.

Had the game been called the way the four games we've seen since, the Lady Royals would be getting ready to play this evening. When fans and coaches from other schools come to you to complain and offer sympathies, you realize you are not just finding excuses. Pike County may well have pulled it out with Terry and Faulkner in the game...they are certainly capable and I wish them well...but the pace and flow of the game was dictated by one official and one expects better in a state tournament.

 

For the record, 16th Region officials, Marla Gearhart and Bobby Hall, did a fine job this afternoon during the Assumption vs Barren County game.

I wasn't tearing her down, just stating the facts. Would you say that scoring 7 points and playing less than half of the game, Laura was a factor in this game??

 

As a non-partial spectator (okay, I admit it, I was actually cheering for the Royals to win) I would say that at least 4 of the fouls were legit. The last one was weak, the girl got tripped up and it was a no call. However, playing with three in the 3rd, and she very aggressively tries to block a shot...should've gone straight up and if they score oh well. I acutally thought she got away with several other fouls so it really didn't matter. The better team won yesterday, and is in the semis against GOLLIATH!

Apparently, you have no idea what I meant by "Salem" or by witch hunt. What happen in 1692 was a trial of women that the public thought was evil, the so called "Witch Hunts" produced some staggering evidence....are you ready? They found NO witches in Salem, this coming after hundreds of women were tortured and killed. When I used the term "Salem" earlier in this post this is exactly what I mean....are you ready? I meant that you can point the finger all you want at the refs and claim they lost the game for Rose Hill but the evidence proves that they DIDNT COST ROSE HILL THE GAME. I have personally seen officials call such lopsided games before that it turned my stomach. One official did make bad calls but he didnt cost RH the game. One thing is for certain and that is that there are many Rose Hill haters in the 16th Region and you are one of them. It is a shame that whoever goes to state is not supported by the rest of the region. Over the next two years it will be back to normal for the rest of the region, they can re-schedule Rose Hill on their Senior night and feel good about pounding a team comprised of middle schoolers. It is amazing that no one ever talked bad about Rose Hill until they started beating the schools that had once beat them unmercifully by 60-70 points, now thats real class. I do agree with your post in just about everything you posted, but I must also state that you are just one of many, and your avatar pretty much sums it up. It is a shame that officals do not call a consistent game in all of Basketball from grade school to the NBA.
