Lexington Christian won the 11th Region Title, now will they run away with the Sweet Sixteen too, after winning the Touchstone All "A" Classic? LCA must be considered the faveriote..... Anybody else?

LCA, all the way.

Maybe the best opening round matchups ever in the Sweet 16. This is going to be one highly competitive tourney this year.

Yes, LCA won the toughest region this year, but there are some awfully good teams out there in this tourney and whomever wins it will definitely will have earned it!:ylsuper:

Assumption finished undefeated all season against Seventh Region competition. They will put up a good fight for the title.

I agree it will be a wide open Sweet Sixteen, and I look for a record week of fans showing up at Diddle Arena, because of it. Should be a great week of Basketball for the players, coaches, parents, and fans of Kentucky High School Girls Basketball.....

Notre Dame Academy played and beat both Montgomery County @ Montgomery County and Assumption @ NDA.....

Any other match up against current Sweet Sixteen teams?

Assumption and Iroquois in the top w/Iroquois in the finals

NDA and LCA in the bottom w/LCA in the finals

I have to think about my championship game but I am leaning towards Iroquois.

Montgomery beat Henderson Co. (neutral site), Barren Co. (neutral site), Lost to NDA (at Montgomery), lost to Breathitt Co. (at Breathitt), so Montgomery Co. is 2-2 vs the field of participants I believe!:thumb:

After watching the Lady Royals from Rose Hill in the District and Region I would not count them out. They are only gaining momentum.

First time since 1998 that the Sweet 16 doesn't feature Lexington Catholic, Sacred Heart, Scott County, or Marshall County.

Hope you are right about the crowds but with the NCAA tourney kicking off Thurs including games at Rupp and UK and EKU and Louisville all playing it might have an effect on attendance.

It would have been really fitting to see a first round match up between John High at Montgomery Co. and Howard Beth at Marshall. These are the two winningest coaches in Ky. Girls Basketball history only separated by less than about 20 wins. It wasn't meant to be and I think that this state tournament might be one of the most evenly matched and most exciting in recent history every night!!!

See you in Bowling Green!!!!!!!!!!!:dancingpa

The Boys Sweet Sixteen usually does okay against such competition each year, so I really don't think that will hurt.

One thing to remember, NDA is playing for the first time in the Sweet Sixteen since 1987, and if you have ever been to Rupp and saw all those young ladies running around Rupp during the CovCath games with CovCath stuff on, well, they don't go to CovCath... Now the question, will they travel down to Diddle, don't know, but I do know one student who will be there with her Dad. :D

I am really looking forward to spending this weekend with her, doing a father/daughter thing one more time, before she goes off to Murray State University this fall.
