What's ignorant about that statement? They do foul on defense. Mason fouls the same way. If the refs called every foul the games would last for ever. Don't see anything wrong with that statement.

Are all your 148 posts this classy? Officials didn't beat Brossart today, but they didn't help either.

 

Brossart had the chance to pull the upset today. I think on a neutral floor the chances would of been greater, but you live with what your handed and life goes on.

No such school as Mt. Olivet Deming. Just Deming. By the way I'm not from Mt. Olivet or Deming.

Brossart got screwed IMO... No way around it. Kidney gets tackled going for a three, no call... Uebel's charges? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Home court advantage? YES! No way Larry Lewis should be reffing an important game... EVER! However, Mason's players are a good bunch of kids and congrats. Go win state...

Screwed? The calls were horrible both ways. If you think that some of those touch fouls that they called against the Royals were deserving, you weren't paying attention. Mason County won with Darius and Trevor in foul trouble for most of the game and Mason County pulled through. The better team won, period.

I was just committing on the Brossart/Mason game. But, I agree with you Scott and Clark do the samething. If teams can get away with it I say more power to them. Look at what all four of them have in common. They all have deep benches. If players get in foul trouble they can be replaced by someone else. I think its smart basketball if you can do it.

 

Again what with the Deming comment? I don't know where your going with that.

 

But, I will say the smaller schools like Deming, Augusta, St. Pat, and Silver Grove don't have the depth to play the defence like the ones mentioned above. I by no means meant to ruffle any feathers with my previous post. But, I guess I did. So I guess its water under the bridge.

I too thought that the officiating was inconsistent today.

 

Note that I did not use the words terrible or horrific or horrendous or any of the descriptions listed above.

 

Larry Lewis is an excellent official who had a tough time today determining blocks and charges. Uebels charges seemed to be multiple choice selections and I really thought that the contact came too deep for them to be offensive fouls. I also thought that we got a couple of breaks in the same area as we picked up a couple of charge calls against Mason County that obviously were not charges.

 

My problem is with two no calls that should have been automatic and did have a bearing on the outcome of the game. Josh Kidney got his defender off of his feet out at the three point arc, and as he is taught stepped in, took the contact while putting up a shot - NO CALL! - Josh should have been at the line shooting 3.

 

A missed Mason County free throw resulted in an over the back of Troy Cooper - NO CALL! Mason County comes up with the ball and scores.

 

Overall, I thought that the officiating was inconsistent, but certainly didn't cost us the game.

Like it or not, that's the way the game is played now?? Silver Grove is not exactly shy on "D", and Deming slapped more than a cheerleader at a drunken frat party??

I know their not big. But for a school their size don't you think they go deep into their bench? By the way what is the enrollment? Is it around 400?
