March 10, 200719 yr This is one of the reasons that Boudreaux's statement that the officials had no choice. Why did they have a choice in all the other instances? Why did the Miss St coach not a technical for being out of the coaches box? Man, he was WAYYYYY out there.
March 10, 200719 yr Didn't get to watch the game but it was explained to me that Meeks was shooting free throws with a 3 point lead and 5 seconds left; and Thomas committed a lane violation at that point. So, if this is correct I think people need to quit complaining about the call by the official and complain about the call by Tubby. Why in the world would you have guys on the line in the first place? In the post game press conference Tubby admitted that he was trying to get the guys off the line. Tubby said he got the attention of Thomas too late and stated that he took full responsibility for the lane violation. As bad as the outcome was I think it showed class by Tubby not allowing Thomas to take the blame and admitting he had made the mistake. It didn't change things but at least he never made excuses.
March 10, 200719 yr Thats a very good point! This was addressed afterwards. The official say that since it was a dead ball, they always give coaches more latitude in being out of the box. I have no problem with no T being called.

March 10, 200719 yr If a player dont know that he was about to be in Violation, he dont need to be in the game to start with.. 6th graders pretty well know once the referee says get set and get in place, All is ready to go. Thats about like putting the horses in the starting gate and he was leaving before all of the other horses..
March 10, 200719 yr ^ I'll give you that they are leaving at the same time..though every game of "real" basketball that I have ever played...the official addresses the players about how many shots are left, and to stay still, then passes the ball to the free thrower. That is right "everyone set" :thumb:
