Why not? One more Tubby thread

Featured Replies

I think Tubby should be back. You all know that.

But it's wrong to compare UK and UConn's coaching hotseats.

UConn was nothing- NOTHING- Before Calhoun. He built that program, even more so than Denny Crum did Louisville. Tubby did not build Kentucky. Without Calhoun, there are no banners in Storrs besides those that belong to the women's team.

I am a true blue fan, but if you can't see that Tubby is taking the program downhill then you need some BBall glasses. I was the biggest Tubby supporter around for years and finally I got fed up with it. UK should be in the hunt every year! That is UK basketball. We are a mediocre mid major team. I don't like Tubby......I really don't.

Chances are if you don't like UK just because of their coach, you probably weren't a true fan anyways.

Welcome to BGP though!

I second that!:thumb:

18% Sorry I had to bring it back. Not possible and that is unrealistic.

I third that!:thumb: :D

I support Tubby as well!! I can honestly say he is one of the nicest class acts to ever coach at Ky. We are lucky to have him!!

I remember all too well what happens after Coach Sutton left and the shape we were in. I stood with the program then and still do now.

Tubby will right the ship, but yes he does need a few key parts to do so. I hate to say it as much as anyone else but it does seem like next year will be the season that tells what fate Tubby will have. I hope it is a top5 team and a final 4 trip:thumb:

IF he leaves it will be like a probation year all over again. Some people who only remember Pitino don't know how bad that was!

:thumb: I agree and I think if he does not come back it will be a family decision. I think he has a parent that is in Ill health and that may be a factor.

Kentucky is fortunate to have a class act like OTS and I really hope he returns next season.

:thumb: :thumb: Absolutely, if OTS does leave then when and if will be and should be his decision. The man (along with his son Saul when he was there, remember that? ) has taken verbal abuse from fans and press that no one should have to and has handled it all with class.

He gets paid over $2 million a year to win basketball games. Currently he's not doing that at an acceptable rate.

As far as abuse, sure a lot is undeserved/harsh, but when you have one of the top jobs in college bball, you've got to deal with it.

I agree and imo he is doing just that with all class which is much more than I can say for some of ther critics.;)

I believe this is Tubby's final year with the CATS. MY choice of replacement(not that my opinion matters) would be Mark Few from Gonzaga. This guy has shown he can bring a Mid Major to national prominence and just imagine what he could do for a program like UK. As far as Billy D. is concerned, I can't imagine why he would leave a program where he is a GOD to take the kind of scrutiny he would have to endure at UK. Either way, hopefully we can get back out on the recruiting trail and get back to winning in at least our own CONFERENCE...

I don't think Tubby's class has ever been in question. He's certainly a class guy. Maybe too class for Elite D1 basketball.

Mark Few would never happen IMO. He has the west coast connection and IMO is going to be taking over at Arizona once Olsen retires.

Billy D would possibly consider leaving because basketball is and always will be 2nd fidle at Florida.

Billy Giliespie would be a great get, but we can talk about that when it becomes an issue.

Dick Vitale said this morning, on M&M In The Morning, that Tubby is doing a great job. And that all the Tubby bashers should ease up on him. He went on to say that UK fans are like Yankees fans. They could win 100 games, but if they don't bring home the WS Championship, the season has been a failure. Kentucky is 20-10, sounds good to me. They're going to the NCAA tourney for the 15th time, yep, the program is in a state of emergency. Better fire Tubby now or next season UK may win 20 games again and make the NCAA tourney for a 16th time straight.
