St. Henry 50 Boone Co. 49

First of all I don't think the coaches won or lost the game. If anything Faust should have been on floor blocking the two shots his team took with under 2:30 left on the clock.

I'm a huge St. Henry fan, but up by 8 with 2:18 on the clock two shots were taken on consecutive possesions without even taking more than 15 seconds off the clock. WHY NOT MAKE BOONE FOUL YOU? OR DEFEND YOU? open shot or not. Experienced seniors have to be aware and guarentee this won't happen again.

Jordan Griffin played great again. He is playin the best ball of his career the last two weeks. He had at least 8rbs and more than 12 points. Brandon Lenhof and Ben Keubbing played very well and those 3 seniors were the ones that lead this team to a win, because the others were struggeling a little.

Boone needs to hold their heads up. They played a very tough game. They have a whole lot of talent and run the floor well. This team will win the region in two years. I almost guarentee it. Steven McFarland is a heck of a player right now and will be unstoppable his senior year. Congrats to Bray on a great career!

Keep up the good work Crusaders!! Lets get the district and then a good draw!

Im just sayin boone had a couple questionable calls at the end of the game, Boone does have plenty of talent on the way.

Maybe Nell's ready for a new challenge. ;)

Oh where to start on this game?

First off, the coach has no business coaching at a high school level, he should be in middle school or not coaching at all. He absolutely butchered the game. The refs made a few questionable calls but that is not why boone lost, they had several turn overs and bray (their top scorer) spent most of his time dribbling the ball because there was no point guard in. The point guard (num 10) came out hit his first 3 of the game and then gets yelled at for taking shots. Boones coach is by far the worst coach i have ever seen at a high school level. At the end of the game the play was set up to go to bray, well mcfarland once again decides to be the hero and takes the ball and keeps the ball and forces a shot with 5 sec left on the clock and bricks it. Now here is the question i need answered, Andy and boyce and a few others played awesome but for some reason sat the bench while others ball hogged and threw up brick after brick and turn over after turn over and ppl wonder why boone lost. I'd venture to say that if boone played a group of 7 yr olds some how the coach would have it a 2 pt game at the minute mark in the 4th and would some how blow the game. It absolutely makes me sick to see kids play their hearts out and not go anywhere because of such a horrible coach. Good luck St Henry you all played an awesome game and should win easy next game.

I agree, St. Henry took some questionable shots at the end.

I don't believe Boone's coach has won district yet. I believe this was his 3rd season.

Congrats to Elmer and his senior crusaders. Good Luck in the Regional.

Kinda hard on the Boone coach aren't we? Maybe he just got one-upped by one of the best coaches in the region, or St. H's seniors' experience took over?

:thumb: Elmo is always tough at tourney time. Should be interesting at Boone Co over the next couple of years....seems to be some discord among the faithful. Seems like the talent is matched by the dysfunction at a very early stage.

I didn't realize the faithful was so dsigruntled until last night when I read this thread. I always thought Boone's Coaches did a pretty good job. They have gotten a lot out of the players they have had since the class that loss in the finals in 2004.

He has the talent, just give him a break and I guarentee Boone will be a regional championship contender in the next few years.

If the parents don't respect the coach or the fans don't respect the coach, what makes you think the players will respect the coach.

It's a lot easier to coach from the stands as we all know. I don't have a dog in this fight but come on for the kids sake, everyone should let them know that the program is respected from the players to the fans to the coaches. This can only help things out, after all the home is were everything starts.

Do you guys really think everyone in good coached programs from the fans to the parents are happy with there coach. I know for a fact there have been parents who wanted Faust out. I know for fact there are parents who want Listerman out. And so on and so on.

The last thing a coach should be concerned with is the fans and parents of his program. He has to worry about his team and the players on his team. Like I said before, give the guy at Boone a chance. You've stated it already, its only his 3rd season and this the 1st one that has had any talent. They will be contending real soon. If your such a good coach then go do it yourself.

I was at the game. Both teams played very well. I think the coaching at Boone is getting a bum rap. It sounds to me more like a disgruntled parent or former player who wants to stir up trouble. The shot they got at the end was a very makeable shot and one that appeared to be in and then rolled out. If it had gone in, does that make him any better or worse as a coach? Everyone talks about how great a coach that Faust is, but they mentioned it earlier that they shot the ball several times under the 2 minute mark with a lead. In that situation, all coaches know you get a lay-up or a foul, not a 15 foot jumper. So does that make him an idiot or a great coach? It is typical high school basketball-- good plays and not-so good plays. Enjoy the experience! Two great games last night in the always interesting 33rd district. The #1 and #2 seeds go down.

Boone County was a major player in the Ninth for awhile, but I guess that time has passed. Boone won the region in 85 and 96, runner ups in 90 and 97 during that same span and made several other regional appearances.

In the last 10 years they've only been to the regional two or three times and only made one nice run. Has the talent well run that dry in Florence in the last decade?

Probably has something to do with Ryle's existence, I would guess.

I can tell you that several parents this year, parents of seniors all the way down to parents of freshmen have not been happy. I know some players quit and chose not to come back this year because of the coach. Only those closest to the program really know their coaches. Hopefully, the team and coaches will improve next year. Boone is well positioned to take the next step. Everyone knows they have two very strong sophomore and freshman classes coming up. If it isn't next year, it will be the two years after. I don't see anything wrong with always expecting and striving for excellence and not being satisified with less.
