Thank you.....After reading the article I'll have to agree with Bubba.. Coach Wright must of felt the Jackets played a little closer than he would of liked. I do know that South shot 29 free throws to Williamsburg's 6! Needless to say South stayed at the line alot. Williamsburg had to dig hard for everything they got. The Jackets also was without starting guard Steven Taylor and sit starters Thomas Frazier and Daniel Kilgore on the bench for most of the first quarter.

If Corbin beats Whitley tonight you may very well see a much closer game between Corbin and South.....with Corbin coming out on top.

Interesting comments from Coach Wright. He must have been upset that Williamsburg played so close to his team last night or something.

Wright, on the other hand, credited his team for staying focused in a game that could have gotten way out of hand if he would have let it.

“A lot of times, teams don’t want to give anybody else credit,” he said. “They just want to talk about how well they played or how bad they played.

“I think they had nothing to lose and they came in and played better than they did when we played them before, but at the same time, I subbed and played 15 guys and a bunch of their kids never did get in,” he added. “We could have left ours in, but we didn’t and I chose not to. There are still times when we beat them by 40 or more and we still played all 15 guys.

“It’s tough to coach a game like that, but in the end I would rather be on our end of it than their end of it.”

You're right, Bubba. The comments made by Coach Wright are interesting. I may be taking this wrong but he seems to be saying that the Jackets need to realize that although their playing has improved that he allowed the end score to be what it was by taking out his best players and subbing way down the bench. He could have left the "Big 3" in and really ran the score up. He almost makes Williamsburg seem unappreciative of his consideration. I guess that I can see his side of the picture. I don't know what was said, or not said, that would make him feel that way but I know that as a Williamsburg fan I was really pleased by the way that the Jackets performed last night. This was the third meeting for these two teams. The first ended by a 50+ win by South and the second with a 30+ win for South also. Last nights meeting ended by only a 20 point difference. Again, I may be wrong but if my memory serves me correctly, I think that in each of these games that South basically played the same players. They began with their regular starters and then as they pulled ahead they went to their bench. I guess what I'm trying to say is that both teams played basically the same group of kids in all three meetings and with each meeting Williamsburg improved. It's not that the Jackets aren't respectful of South's talent. It's the fact that they are such a powerful team that makes cutting the margin of victory with each meeting an exciting thing for the Jackets.

Sometimes being respectful of an opponent is a lost art. Williamsburg has struggled this season, but did so with much better effort and played much harder. I think the Jackets are headed in the right direction. I am sure Coach Robinson could list many excuses as to why he did not win 20 games if he was that type of person.

Coach Robinson was put in a very difficult position and has made the best of it...He has plenty of excuses and I have never heard him use one...Congrats to the Jackets, they have made a step in the right direction this year...Coach Wright is a great coach and has a good team, but he could use a lesson in humility IMO...

Coach Robinson could use many excuses, but has not once done so. Everyone knows South has a powerhouse of a team, I think coach Wright could of found at least one positive comment about Williamsburg's effort. After the Jackets played Corbin much closer than the previous times Coach P. was nothing but a class act and commented on Williamsburg's improvement.

Coach Petrowski and staff are class acts...Best of luck to the Hounds tonight...

I would hope you aren't saying that Coach Wright has no class, IMO that would be far from the truth. Even playing South closer W'burg still lost by 20 and I'm sure it could have been many more. Sometimes things we read in the papers are alot different than the comments were meant to be.
