If Guiliani wins the Republican nomination...

Featured Replies

IMO Rudy is a liberal in conservative clothing. I don't think he stands a chance with the conservatives on social issues. Many use abortion rights as a litmus test. All the strides forward in reversing Roe v. Wade will be given a severe set-back. I for one hope the Republican party comes up with some better choices quick.

Out of curiosity, what are those strides in reversing Roe?

If Rudy runs against Hillary the turn out will be through the roof. IMO Rudy will be the next POTUS. If you are betting that social conservatives won't vote for Rudy to defeat Hillary, you are wrong.

I agree with LSURock. Conservatives are so thirsty for ANYONE besides a liberal Democrat to take office, that they will crawl to a mirage and drink the sand. Rest assured, the evangelicals, fiscal consefvatives - all of them - will turn out to vote for Rudi G. when the chips are down and they are faced with the prospect of Hillary or even Obama as POTUS.

Hillary? Yes. Obama? Not as much but probably enough. I see where Fred Thompson is "thinking" about getting in the race.

Not every conservative . . . I won't be voting for Rudi G.

The conservative base needs conservative supreme court justices appointed in order to at least maintain (strides was perhaps a poor word choice) their ground. Particularly in the area of the partial birth abortion ban . . . conservative justices will keep it in play. Also, as far as Roe v Wade goes . . . the conservative pro-life base is counting on conservative justices to include the rights of the unborn child . . . and yes it is a child and not a lump of lifeless tissue.

Repeat . . . I will not and many other true conservatives will not vote for Rudi G.

Even if he was running against Hillary?

If it's Rudi -vs- Hillary...you can bet I will vote for him...-vs- Obama? I would have to dig deeper to make a decision.

Even if he was running against Hillary?

I won't vote for either Hillary or Rudi. I vote my conscience on issues that I deem important. I do not vote party affiliation. I am an independent in heart but a registered Republican simply because in order to vote primary and general you have to be registered among the main party lines. I don't think its fair but that is how it is. I am a registered Republican because of their pro-life platform . . . I will NEVER vote for anyone who is pro-choice no matter what party affiliation they are . . . I answer to a higher authority and it is my responsibility to vote according to the dictates of scripture. If the Republican party offers no better choice I will vote to not vote.

^ that's against what our forefathers fought for.

In an earlier post you mentioned the need for conservative supreme court justices. Rudy has said that his models for future appointments would be Scalia, Thomas and Alito. He is for limiting abortion access including banning partial birth abortions. How can you in good conscience "not vote" which may allow his opponent to take the white house and appoint more Ginsbergs and Stevens and Breyers? Its called pragmatism, you can win a little or lose a lot. I applaude your principles, but guys like you gave us the results of the 06 mid-terms.

What to exercise my freedom of speech, and what I feel is right? They (our forefathers) said everyone was entitled to LIFE, (even the life of the unborn) liberty and the pursuit of happiness . . . this is exactly what they fought for.

I can't argue with that. You have to vote for what you believe.

What about post #27?
