The Frederick Douglass Broncos (9-0) travel to Boyle County to take on the Rebels (8-1) for the 3rd time. This marks the 6th straight year that two of the best programs in central Kentucky will close out the regular season. So far the Rebels have won 4 of the first 5 meetings with the only Douglass win coming at Boyle Co. in 2022 when they went 15-0 and won the State 5A title.

While Boyle has controlled the matchup they both have had very successful post-seasons. Boyle since they began the series have four 4A titles and a runner-up. The Broncos after the 2022 season moved back up to 6A. In those 5 years the Broncos have had one 5A state title a 5A runner-up and two 6A semi-final losses to 6A champs Trinity.

This game also features two of the best high school players in the state in Boyle's TE Senca Driver and Douglass RB Dakari Talbert. They also have played two common opponents. Those are Highlands and Bryan Station. The Broncos defeated Highlands 41-20 in the opening game of the season and defeated Bryan Station last week 25-12. The Rebels lost at Highlands 41-21 with Driver and they defeated Bryan Station in week two 35-0.

This should be a good game between two good teams as I hope each year that I hope both teams get out the game without any injuries going into what both expect to be long playoff runs. The kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm Friday. I am sure Boyle Streams their game just not sure what or where.

I'll go with Boyle County at home.

I believe FD gives Boyle their 2nd loss of the season and that will be the first time Boyle enter the playoffs since 2022 with 2 losses.

TP94 Power Ratings from last week:

Frederick Douglass 92.76
Boyle County 93.85

21-14 Douglass. Broncos trenchwork on both sides will be the difference.

28-14 Boyle. Frederick Douglass will have no answer for Seneca, just like they didn't last year. I think Boyle will shut down FD run game and make them them throw it. I don't have faith in the FD Quarterback throwing the ball. I was listening to the radio show Title Town talk and a Boyle player said they have been working on FD for about 3 weeks.
