Male at Frederick Douglass Predictions/Updates

The Male Bulldogs (3-2) travel east on I-64 to Lexington to "The Farm" to take on the Frederick Douglass Broncos (5-0). This will be the 3rd meeting between these 6A opponents. The first meeting was in the 2023 6A quarterfinals at Male where Douglass defeated the Bulldogs 21-20.

The Bulldogs and Broncos started in 2024 playing each other in the regular season. In the 2024 game Male came into "The Farm" and handed Douglass a 31-28 defeat. The Broncos returned the favor in 2025 when they went to Male and defeated the Bulldogs 14-0.

Both teams are coming into this game on Friday off easy victories. Male a 41-7 win at PRP. Douglass a 35-7 win at Christian County. The Broncos also picked up their 100 victory in the program's history. Pretty impressive to do so in just 9.5 years as a program and then throw in the shortened 2020 season.

Male has so far won the games they were supposed to win, but in the two games against the best team and a top 5 in team 6A they were outscored 71-7 in a 37-0 loss to Trinity and a 34-7 loss to St. X. The Broncos have played a much tougher schedule up to this point with the only weaker opponents being Tates Creek and Christian County. The Broncos hang their hat again this year on their defense they are a very quick and are hard hitting. The Broncos in 5 games have only allowed 34 points and 20 of those were in the opening game vs. Highlands in which Douglass won 37-20. In their last 4 games they have only allowed 14 points. Those 4 games 2 of which were against Manual (27-7) and Corbin (10-0).

I think the Broncos win this game by double digits, but Male is proud and storied program who won't be coming to Lexington conceding a win. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30pm on Friday, Oct. 2. The game will be streamed on Glicod Sports and NFHS Network. Go Broncos!
