I think offensively they're shooting themselves in the foot with the way they call their plays in. The other teams are picking it up and know what's coming. They need to disguise them better.

Are we talking "signal gate'?🫣

How long is the rope for the coaching staff at Dixie?

They're trying to figure out the QB position. It was a 4 man competition that has been moved to 2 due to injuries. Would 1 of those 2 been a better fit with this offense, I don't know. The 2 that are playing are battling, but they have completely different styles and skill sets.

I think offensively they're shooting themselves in the foot with the way they call their plays in. The other teams are picking it up and know what's coming. They need to disguise them better. They could also use a little more diversity in their plays, but maybe they're keeping it simple in these non-district games knowing they have a tough schedule to start the season and a new qb to break in.

I will say this. I think player wise Dixie should be more competitive than they are showing. I saw a lack of discipline in the team. Coaches that whine and complain and get upset by little things in the game - that translates to the team. You have to coach past that and focus on what you and your team control. I did see some good coaching taking place on the sideline so it is a mixed bag from what I saw last night.

They have some talented players. I was impressed with their running game. Gilliland is a strong back and was all over the field last night making tackles on defense. Their core players on defense are pretty solid with good size. They have good size on the line, like they always do at Dixie. They need to find an answer at QB. That will help them a lot. Their passing game was no threat and then that makes it easy to defend you. They have the potential to be better than what their record shows so far if they can figure out QB.

Yes, they will will a few games, after next week their schedule looks to be a bit softer. Their QB situation is bad.

I tend to agree with most of this. One part I'd like to correct is that we have not had much size on our lines in quite a few seasons. We are finally starting to see some and the next few seasons the line will finally have that look. But correct we should be more competitive than we have been showing. To our players credits, they have been battling through some key injuries, and HUGE deficits in certain key positions. In this particular contest we had some kids have to sit the first quarter due to some disciplinary issues. And Beechwood's first two scores were due to those absences (special teams/defense). Then you come out in the second half feeling pretty good about keeping it close and have a couple unforced errors (one being a crucial unsportsmanlike, muffed punt, and a turnover). Beechwood is going take advantage of those short fields and is going to win those games 99.9% of the time, and they deserved to win this one.
