0-1 Dixie travels to 1-0 Badin. Badin beat Hamilton 33 to 7. Dixie lost 42 to 13 to Simon Kenton. Good luck to both teams

These next few weeks are going to be rough. They have too many key players banged up that they can hopefully get back by district play. They've got 3 seniors that play both ways each with a bad wheel. 1 has been out and 2 that were limited last week. They've got a junior out with a back injury, but not sure how much impact on the field they were expecting out of him besides kicking. Therefore, it's given some sophomores the opportunity to see varsity time.

Who else is injured? Hope they can get back on the field soon!

Waters (SR) has been out, and from my understanding will be back for CovCath at the earliest. Starting OLB, and then offensively WR, RB, and competed for the QB spot.

Henson (SR) was limited last week. Starting safety, and then offensively also WR, RB, and competed for the QB spot.

Roaden (SR) was also limited last week. Starting MLB and rotating in at RB giving them a big, physical back.

Niemeyer (JR) likely out for season from playing the field, but may be able to kick later in the season. Was kicker and special teams player last year on varsity and got a few snaps at QB in mop up duty. Other than kicking, probably would've been in the mix for starting CB opposite of Grey. He was also in competition for QB spot. Played CB, QB, and K for JV last year.

Is there a link to this game?

Badin is up at the half 35-6

Badin not doing much on the ground but lighting it up through the air.

Turnovers and explosive pass plays are winning Dixie.

Just wow here too.

I feel changes are coming at Dixie.

Badin 42

Dixie 13

Final from Hamilton, OH

The passing game was the difference tonight. Dixie couldn't stop Badin's, and Dixie couldn't get their's going.

Dixie stopped Badin and forced a punt on their opening drive, but Dixie fumbled the punt and Badin recovered. Badin then went on to score 28 unanswered before Dixie was able to punch one in.

Dixie's run defense was solid tonight. However, their secondary struggled to defend Badin's passing attack. It wasn't necessarily bad coverage outside of maybe their 2nd TD, they just didn't find the ball to make a play on it.

Offensively, the run game showed spurts but the passing game was nonexistent. In these non-district games, I'd let my young quarterback make more attempts down the field. I think they only attempted 4 passes beyond the LOS with 1 being a pick and the others incomplete (you could argue pass interference on 2 of them).

Coaching, after the season.

Year two district Coach of the year. Lost to beechwood in OT. Lost to Cov Cath on close to the last play of the game. 3rd in district behind HHS and Cooper and clocked Woodford.

Year three 3rd in the district and lose to Woodford.

Year four second in the district so home playoff game. Lose to Collins in a crazy game.

Over the past four years a schedule that has Beechwood, Cooper, Ryle, Highlands and Badin. During that time Ryle and Cooper have had a crazy run of talent and most of those teams have had deep playoff runs. Past maybe losing to SK and one year to Conner (that Conner team gave Scott Co issues in the playoffs) what games are they losing they should be winning?

I had a friend coach at Dixie before Coach Burke took over so I've been following them for some years. Past that I have no dog really in the fight.

I see this with a number of programs where statements are made and I wonder how much people from the outside really know about a program. You see it all over high school sports in general. Unless one actively is involved or follows a team most don't know what's going on be it injuries, having to play young players, over schedule, school issues and list goes on.

I agree. It's sort of lazy to just look at W-L and throw up your hands and be done with it. It ignores the fact of what was inherited. Coach Brossart left at the right time. Talent in the "have not' schools is very cyclical and outside of a few really good players here and there the other pieces weren't in place to compliment them. Parents had no patience and took their kids elsewhere to play. The scheduling is a head scratcher knowing the uphill climb this job was but Coach Burke has said it himself he'd change that and he has for next cycle. Then a transient Defensive Coordinator position where these poor kids have had 5 D-Coordinators in 7 years. It's all part of being the big whistle. But the kids respond to him and he has made some good hires in key spots. This season, a few former players have come back to help and try their hand at coaching. He built a freshman program (who is doing well now) where prior they were barely fielding a froshmore team. It sucks to have to do more with less and talent being cyclical, there is finally some size and talent coming up the pipeline to work with. This year is the first year the net height of the O-Line is above 6'. Since Burke got here I haven't had a d-lineman not named Rice who was taller than 6’-1' and heavier than 210lbs. So the question for the Athletic Director/Principal is, Option A, see this through another season where there could be a nice turnaround, or B take all the hard work done over the past few years and inject new energy into the program moving forward. My opinion, can't go wrong either way. Back to Badin... heck of a ball team, proud of how well we did against the run. Lots to fix in the secondary, and we desperately need to get healthy before a very winnable district stretch.

All good points and like I said, it is a feeling.
