I, for one, am in favor of the cap, but more importantly, the floor.   If you are going to own a team, act like you care about it.

I think the range is too narrow. I think a $150M-300M is better.

There obviously must be revenue sharing of TV money to make this work. National TV money should be used to balance out big market and small market TV/media money

What I found interesting in this is it were to pass (which it won't) the Reds were one of the teams that would need to raise their total salary as they would currently be below the minimum.

By using your numbers, you're really not changing much.

True, but my numbers have a better chance at being approved by MLBPA.  But very unlikely they will approve any type of a cap. They have always opposed it in the past.

You are correct, it will never  get imposed.  If it's not going to help the smaller market teams there is no sense of having a so called deal.

The real problem for MLB is lack of media revenue sharing among the teams. That is why the big market teams have so much more revenue and can pay their players more. That is something the owners have to work out on their own.

I personally believe we won't have MLB in 2027.

The new proposal is for full sharing of local television revenue.  So there's at least that.

I believe a salary floor is an absolute must in that or pretty much any case, because there needs to be something to prevent certain bad faith ownership teams from simply pocketing the revenue (for instance, the Marlins).  The MLBPA proposal calls for that as well, though with a different name.  But for full competitive balance, I believe a cap is required.
