At least you're not faulting the officials, just the size of your team.  Did you forget about the defense of MC plus their offense?  Maybe CCH should have made some changes.

I didn't say anywhere in my post those things weren't factors in the game. They obviously were. I was just pointing out that size was an obvious challenge for Cov Cath coming into this game, and when you add in our poor shooting and Madison Central's great shooting, it was bound not to end well. We missed 75% of our three-point shots, and at the very least half of those shots were taken without being particularly rushed or overly challenged.

Madison Central was playing an aggressive, fast and physical brand of defense that Cov Cath hasn't seen much of at all this season, and it showed when it came to the Colonels' offensive performance. As for whether or not changes should have been made by the Cov Cath coaching staff, maybe so. I'm definitely a football mind far and above basketball and that's not a call I can really make well, but my comment about size and shooting were just a couple of obvious observations that were more than apparent in the game.

"The Colonels always seem to start slow" is a running theme throughout this season. They need to find a remedy for that right now. And I could give a crap about officials. It was a historically bad shooting night for the Colonels versus an absolutely insane shooting night for MC on MC’s home floor. Hard to beat a team twice and the Colonels will not shoot like that again. There is no such thing as a good loss to me, but I agree about the chip this could give them and I think it will really light their engines. Playoffs are next and I have no worries….they have played size before and have beaten size….they have seen everything thrown at them so they are ready. Congrats to MC on a great game. Time to roll.

As much as I would like Cov Cath to win it all, I thought Madison Central laid out the blueprint for what it takes to beat them. That is to put a team of "size" on the floor that is capable of playing a brand of aggressive, fast and "PHYSICAL" defense (thank you C_W_B) and doesn't experience a bad shooting night. I thought everyone but McGillis pretty much disappeared in the Central game. His shoulders aren't big enough to carry this team alone. Are there any in the 9th region that can do this? I think not. Will there be any in the upper bracket of the state tourney? Probably more than one.

I do like your take. Any team can go down on a bad night. I can you tell you this- if the Colonels or any team, play fast and hit the three ball, size will be thrown out the window. Time will tell. I will tell you this, it is hard to beat a good team twice, even with a size advantage. 

Harking over to the gridiron, does anyone remember the 2007 Patriots team who beat the Giants in the regular season, stayed undefeated, and then lost in the Super Bowl to the same Giants team they had to face a second time? I look forward to a challenge.
