We should just take a poll to determine who starts.

 

Parents are dangerous. Some of them would rather lose as long as their boy get his minutes and/or shots.

Maybe we could get the KHSAA to mandate this idea.

I was very disappointed in Breathitt's Coach. Here they have a awesome player #32 who seldom played. It seemed to me as soon as he warmed up on the floor he was taken out. Then everyone is wondering why the Bobcats has been so weak in the last couple of games. Coach Banks better wake up and smell the coffee. The freshmen #12 made all kinds of mistakes and stayed in the game along with the Hollan kid. I believe he missed more shots than he made. Looks like Combs, Smith and Allen are getting the shaft. Bobcats will go know where if things don't change. JMO

In my opinion the allen and combs kids are getting the shaft in this whole deal at Breathitt. Combs is a junior at breathitt that gets minumal playing do to the fact that breathitt is trying to build up there freshmen and play for years to come. If I not mistaken this was the team that won the state middle school tournament, not the freshmen they have this year. Another fact that I have found out if that one of the assistant coaches at breathitt is the uncle of Nick Noble who I think was playing good at the beginning of this year but has been a big let down as of late. Breathitt has to much talent to let it go to waste by playing favorites and kin. My starting line up would be fugate, combs, hollan, smith, and hayes. But what do I know Im not the coach but maybe I'll start coaching elematary school basketball then get the job at breathitt and coach the way I want to.

 

P.S Coach Banks if u want to win I would let your big man smith get more than 3 shots in a game.:thumb:

If the assistant coach was getting any favors then it looks like his own son would be getting a lot of playing time. The middle school state tournament you are refering to is really irrelevant to high school basketball. Lots of good middle school players end up being average high school players. If I was part of a 20-2 team that has a legitimate shot at winning the region, I would be pretty excited, but that is just me and my team has only 7 wins. On the elementary coaching thing, most coaches start out at some level other than head coach of a high school team. I don't know of any one that would hire a coach with no coaching experience of some kind. What ever they are doing seems to be working, but if you would like to coach, you should apply.

I agree with you in alot of aspects, but not all. Smith definitely needs to get the ball down low more often. The Noble kid had a solid game against Lee, but night in and night out the starting lineup you mentioned, would in my opinion, give Breathitt the best chance to go far into the tourney. I mentioned this same starting lineup in another thread. A large majority of fans don't know the ins and outs of the game, but when an overwhelming majority of fans that know the game observe the same issues about who plays and who doesn't, then there may be an issue of concern. Coaches don't have to play who the fans want, but if they don't have the best lineup on the floor come season's end it will show up come regional tournament time. Hollan, Fugate, Combs, Hayes, and Smith and with a good solid rotation of Noble, Allen, and Ritchie the bobcats would be dangerous this year and effortlessly flow into next year as a favorite to win the region.

Well from what i see about the whole situation the coach from last year got done dirty....the coaching staff this year is pathetic...with the talent breathitt county has and the scheldule played a man off the street could coach these men and have the record they have...Lets see how could the coaching is come MARCH.....WEll u cant play a boy on the varsity level that looks like a 7th grader come on....have u seen what his boy looks like???? Secondly you talk of the state tournament well thats what everyone is saying about the freshman this year...WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE....MONEY

I think the Ritchie kid is the one who is getting shafted. Did anyone see how he played in the H.I.T.?

Again Lee struggles away from home. They don't have an answer on the inside to go to when they struggle with the 3. They are a sub par team when you get them out of Beattyville. Nice win for the Bobcats, but still not playing as a team like they were at the beginning of this year. They have JBS and Perry Central coming up, will be a good measuring stick for them.

I have to disagree with your assessment. As far as the inside game Lee outscored Breathitt in the paint. Lee did miss ten lay ins uncontested. Lee took only 11 three point shots and hit 4 that includes a last second heave. Lee didn't play as well as they do at home I do agree with you there. But they do not live and die by the 3. Most of their problem is whether these seniors want to finish strongly or just get it over. I am a Lee diehard and I am amongst many fans that are begining to question the heasrt of this team. If they want to play with heart and courage they will be a tough out. Otherwise they are average at best.

Combs hasn't played well the last few games. #12 or Channing Fugate, had a good game, he made some pretty nice moves towards the basket and is exactly what the team needs on the court. With the out side shooting of Brandon Hayes and Justin Hollan the drivves to the bucket by Fugate opens those guys up. Breathitt has played teams of late that have small line-ups. Which puts Smith and Combs on the bench for longer time periods. Now Ryan Allen is Breathitts best defender, and plays hard on both ends of the court. Coach Banks is winning ball games is the biggest thing. He has made Breathitt a contender because the boys have baught into his system, but maybe you are right. Maybe the chemistry this team had has sunk because some kids isn't getting the playing time their parents or themselves think they should get. I guess the only thing that can be said is, make the time you get on the court worth it. I think that Breathitt's season will come down to, who can decide to let their ego's go and play as a team and who will get mad when they don't get to play as much. (there is a senior on Breathitt's squade that doesn't even get to play a minute in ne game, think about how he feels, but yet he doesn't complain, he loves the sport of basketball, and he wants to win even if he doesn't get to play.)

I don't know who you are but I think that is the truest statement I have ever read. There is alot of discussion about how long someone plays or who starts. I think that BHS bookkeeper is very jealous of #12 and #11. Besides if #32 is not getting the job done, then he should sit. He is no better than anybody else. I was at the game this past Friday and Coach called out a play and # 32 was looking at the coach like he had never ran this play.

You need to be disappointed in Breathitt's Coach. He has brought this team along way from last year. I don't want to hear what an easy schedule they are playing. Coach didn't make the schedule for this year. Coach Hall did.For Breathitt to have only won four games last year and being dead in the water and to even be mentioned about being a contender for the regional tournament this year is unheard of. It is reallyhard for some parents to see the light. I think that Coach Banks has woke up and smelled the coffee that is why #32 Is not playing very much. When you get out on the floor and don't know what you are doing then you need to sit and not play. I also think that you must be jealoues of #12 or you would not have mentioned him. I don't think that any player is getting the shaft I think all you want to do is start TROUBLE.JMO

Do I smell a catfight. Parents destroy the game. This thread should be closed before some of these parents get more destructive towards these kids. Breathitt can not win anything with this type of divisive attitude going on between the parents and players. Just let the kids play.
