Featured Replies

1. Hazard (7-6): The Bulldogs took it on the chin last week. They started off the week with a win in Florida but then lost two straight to end the Florida tournament at Fernandia Beach. The Bulldogs returned home for a short time before heading to Winchester to take on George Rogers Clark, one of the top teams in the state, in the Tim Short Automotive Classic. It was a trip the Bulldogs hope to forget as they were crushed by the Cardinals 78-43.

15. June Buchanan (2-10).

16. Cordia (0-12).

Estill County Head Coach, Brian Hall, with the win over Owsley County on Friday January 2nd, got his 300th career win. 123 of those wins have came as head coach of Estill County Engineers.

I think the way they are playing right now, and they are definitely on a roll, the Powell County Pirates may be playing the best basketball in the 14th. I think when all the dust is settled in regional post season tournament play that Powell could very well be making their 3rd trip to the state tournament.

Hazard definitely not the best team in the 14th region.

I would lean Powell Co. with the firepower they possess.

Knott County Central beat Powell on Powell's home court earlier this season.

KCC certainly has the coach and pedigree, but I will say this Powell team has been playing different ball since the Christmas tournaments.  Sometimes it takes a little time for talent to gel.

Teams change throughout the season, have to watch as the season progresses.
