Its a no-win situation for both sides. Obviously, we see what can happen to the kid. Some would argue that had it been Simms who continues to waiver, they would have waited. Maybe. Maybe not. UL can't simply hide behind "he wasn't sure so we moved on." Lots of talented kids aren't sure until the very end and the schools wait. UL would be better off saying "we moved on without him" and leaving it at that.

No matter what they say though the kid has no argument what so ever. If he did commit, and thought 100% that the UL staff was behind him which is what he's saying then there is absolutely no reason to look at other schools unless he wasn't sure.

 

If he wasn't sure then you can not blame UL for looking in a nother direction.

I must say that his kind of thing happens everywhere. To me it is nothing new. This story among others like it makes one appreciate Mack brown at Texas even more. There is a thread on Brown along the same lines in this forum.

Probably not but imo they relate to the somewhat of the same thing (class in coaches/programs). Mine may have been a bad comparison/example but I was just trying to point out the class acts of some programs compared to others in recruiting. JMO and I am not looking to argue about it.

The big stud UK got, DJ Staffard had the EXACT same thing happen to him. He wanted UGA, they offered, then he pimped himself out to UK, and UGA backed off the night before signing day. Its that kids fault, not Georgia's.

Different story on Stafford because he's probably not going to qualify. UGA doesn't need to take a chance on him.

 

UL had no problem keeping scholarships open to Patrick Grant, Josh Bynes and C.J. Peake up to and including signing day. Grant almost went to USF or Iowa, Bynes went to Auburn, and Peake even delayed his announcement twice before choosing UL over Wisconsin. In fact, Kragthorp was just quoted that there is still room in the class to sign another player.

 

Something needs to be done to change this. It's not fair to the high school seniors. The multimillion dollar Universities are much more well-equipped to handle the loss of one good football player, than the football player is to handle the loss of a free education. Let's face it, the majority of these high profile recruits don't have the means to afford college.

Come on man, if they are offered a scholarship by the University of Louisville, and something like this happens, they're going to wind up somewhere getting that free education.

I could "committ" to USC tomorrow. It doen't mean a thing until you sign that paper, which the college has to send to you. See Brad Durham and UL and the Louisiana kid and UK.

 

The main problem with this one is that the scholarship was allegedly pulled on signing day.

Come on man, if they are offered a scholarship by the University of Louisville, and something like this happens, they're going to wind up somewhere getting that free education.

Let's hope so. The kid in the article was more of a doom and gloom scenario.
