I think Boyle made Franklin look a lot worse than they were. Don't forget going into this Franklin had beat this year's 2A state champs LCA, had beat Bowling Green worse than CAL did, and knocked off defending state champion Paducah Tilghman holding them to their lowest scoring total since 2023.

CAL scrimmaged Franklin County this year.  It was a controlled scrimmage on special teams, but everything else was live and game scenario and it wasn't even close.  If it had been a game, CAL would have running clocked them.  To say that I was shocked when Franklin County went 14-0 and earned a spot in the state title game is an understatement, which is a testament to the job their coaching staff did, as well as the improvements their players obviously made.

I don't think Franklin was not good, or that they didn't deserve to be in the finals.  I'm just saying I think those other three teams were better by 7-10 points.
