theguru Posted Wednesday at 01:29 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:29 AM Let's make it 16 teams. You can put one more charity team in and three more rated teams in. 1

Calico Jack Posted Wednesday at 02:55 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:55 PM My biggest take away(s) from now, year 2 of the new CFB Football Playoff? 1- Best thing ever and long overdue, as we all feel. Butttttt.... 2- The G5 schools need their own Division. FCS has theirs, the P4 has theirs (even though one G5 is thrown a bone). Pretending as though they, or even the ONE that gets in every year has a legitimate chance to compete for a title is about like our current KYHSFB district/playoff set up where 80% (and, more as it pertains to G5 vs P4) are nothing more than shark bait. That's not an "everybody deserves a trophy" observation, either. Actually it's for selfish reasons of more football playoffs 🤪. Plus, I think those schools could reallllllllly cash in, especially if some of those lower tier Bowl games that they play in were tied to it (they'd kick in even more than what they do already, along with potential others)

Jumper_Dad Posted Wednesday at 03:10 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:10 PM My early take aways... 1) Indiana should be #1 over Ohio State based on on-field performance this year. 2) I'm reminded that in the first year of the CFP, all four top seeds were eliminated in their first game. 3) Old Miss and Georgia my early picks to reach the semi-finals, but I think that's as far as either can go. 4) I think IU is playing for the title this year. 5) Georgia or Alabama "could" beat Ohio State, but I'm not leaning that way. 6) I still hate Automatic qualifiers, talking to you Memphis. If a non P4 team is ranked highly enough, they deserve to get in. Jumping them from beyond top 25 into the CFP just doesn't seem right. If it expands to 16 teams, maybe then give the non P4 a pitty selection.

In the last ESPN power index, Memphis is the 42nd-ranked team. Virginia is 46th. What are we doing here? Move both of them up 20 spots, and it is still bad. Granted, I give more credence to power ranking polls than I do the AP/Coaches polls, in which case these teams would be 22nd and 11th, respectively. 1

I see it as old men in a room deciding what they think best, in other words, the powers that be. We need straight up power ratings to rank the teams and then the top 12 get in, period. Anything beyond that is garbage. I will add, college football is perfect for meaningful power rankings.
BlueBloodedColonel Posted Thursday at 01:58 AM Posted Thursday at 01:58 AM Indiana has a better team than they did last year. A first round bye might bode well for them. Time will tell. They need to win a playoff game or two. I don't see them making it far. OSU is a different animal.
